Morel Elate Carbon

Morel Elate Carbon is Morel's high-end car audio speaker range, built around triple-layer carbon fibre and Rohacell sandwich cones, 75mm Hexatech aluminium voice coils and neodymium magnet systems. Available from £519, it suits enthusiasts building serious component systems in their vehicle.

The range covers 2-way and 3-way component systems in 5.25-inch, 6.5-inch and 9-inch configurations, alongside individual drivers and passive crossovers. Two sub-ranges exist — standard Elate Carbon and Elate Carbon Pro — each offered in passive and active variants for DSP-based builds.

Which Morel Elate Carbon should I choose?

The main distinction is between standard Elate Carbon and Elate Carbon Pro. Both use the same carbon fibre and Rohacell woofers and MM3 midranges in 3-way configurations, but the Pro systems fit the Elate Alto tweeter (220W RMS) rather than the MT450 (130W RMS). Woofer size — 5.25-inch, 6.5-inch or 9-inch — is determined by what fits your vehicle.

Within each size, the choice is between passive systems (supplied with MXT280C or MXT380C crossovers, for use with a standard amplifier) and active variants (the A-suffix models, supplied without crossovers, for DSP or active crossover setups where each driver runs from its own amplifier channel). All individual drivers and crossovers are also available separately for custom or upgrade builds.

Morel Elate Carbon FAQs

Q: What is the difference between Elate Carbon and Elate Carbon Pro?

A: The Pro range uses the Elate Alto 28mm tweeter rated at 220W RMS, whereas standard Elate Carbon systems use the MT450 28mm tweeter rated at 130W RMS. Both sub-ranges share the same carbon fibre and Rohacell woofers and, in 3-way systems, the same MM3 midrange.

Q: What is the difference between the passive and active (A) versions?

A: Passive systems are supplied with MXT280C (2-way) or MXT380C (3-way) crossovers and can be driven from a standard amplifier. Active A-suffix variants are supplied without crossovers, for DSP or active crossover setups where each driver has its own dedicated amplifier channel.

Q: What crossovers are included with the passive systems?

A: 2-way passive systems include the MXT280C (2500Hz/12dB crossover point, tweeter level control ±2dB, bi-wire/bi-amp capable); 3-way passive systems include the MXT380C (450Hz and 2700Hz crossover points, adjustable tweeter and midrange levels, bi-wire/bi-amp capable).

Q: Can CEN fit Morel Elate Carbon speakers?

A: Yes — CEN has a fitting workshop at its Beeston, Nottingham store where Elate Carbon component speaker systems can be professionally installed in your vehicle.

Q: Are the drivers and crossovers available to buy separately?

A: Yes — the MM3 midranges, MT450 and Alto tweeters, MW5, MW6 and MW9 woofers, and MXT280C and MXT380C crossovers are all sold individually, for custom builds or to upgrade an existing system.
