About the Helix CI21602
From our tech experts at CEN
The Helix Ci7 W165FM-S3 is a pair of 6.5 inch (165 mm) midbass drivers from the Compose i7 series, made in Germany. They handle 150 W RMS and 225 W maximum at 3 ohms, with Ultra High Damping paper cones, 37 mm voice coils and a 50 Hz to 3.5 kHz response.
Who it suits
Door upgrades in an i7 front stage where you want strong, controlled midbass from the factory 6.5 inch position. They need a 142 mm cut-out and 65.8 mm of depth, and car-specific FlexMount165 adaptors are sold separately. For 5.25 inch openings, see the Ci7 W130-S3.
Our tech experts advise
There is no crossover in the box, so use a DSP channel or the Ci7 FX-UNI.2 with the Ci7 T20FM-SC tweeter. The 3 ohm load lets an amplifier deliver more power, so check it is stable. Door deadening makes a clear difference. Get in touch.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will these speakers fit my car?
A: Most car speakers are standard sizes, but mounting depth and fitting rings vary by vehicle. Check the size in the Specification tab against your vehicle, or contact CEN with your registration and we will confirm fitment and any adapters or fitting kits you need.
Q: Do I need an amplifier to run these speakers?
A: Not always. Most speakers will run from a standard head unit, but a dedicated amplifier lets them perform at their best, particularly for component sets and higher power handling models. The RMS figure in the Specification tab is the guide to how much clean power they can use.
Q: What is the difference between coaxial and component speakers?
A: Coaxial speakers combine the tweeter and woofer in one unit for a simple like-for-like upgrade. Component sets separate the tweeter and woofer with a crossover for better imaging and detail, and suit installs where sound quality is the priority.
Q: Do these come as a pair?
A: Unless stated otherwise, car speakers are sold in pairs. Check the product title and What's Included tab, which lists exactly what is in the box.
Q: Can CEN fit these speakers for me?
A: Yes. CEN offers professional installation from our Nottingham premises. Contact us to book an installation slot or ask for a fitting quote.
Q: What is the installation depth of the Ci7 W165FM-S3?
A: The installation depth is 65.8 mm and the installation diameter is 142 mm.
Q: Does the Ci7 W165FM-S3 work with FlexMount adaptors?
A: Yes. It is designed for the optionally available car-specific FlexMount165 adaptors, which allow acoustically optimised fitting in the vehicle's original speaker location, and for car-specific WireKits.
Q: What tweeter goes with the Ci7 W165FM-S3?
A: Within the COMPOSE i7 range it pairs with the Ci7 T20FM-SC tweeter, run either actively from a DSP or passively through the Ci7 FX-UNI.2 crossover.
