Redefined clarity with dual HDR
The Elite 8 uses Sony IMX675 STARVIS 2 sensors in both front and rear cameras, recording at 2560×1440 pixels. HDR on both cameras delivers clear, well-balanced footage in bright sunlight and low-light conditions. BlackVue HDR also reduces motion blur and improves detail, making number plates easier to read on moving vehicles.
The 7-element f/2.0 lens (front and rear) gives a 142° diagonal field of view with minimal distortion and strong low-light performance.
The best daily protection with pre-event recording
Motion detection: records a 1-minute buffered video whenever motion is detected by the front or rear camera. Detection areas can be set manually in the app.
Time lapse: records constantly at 1 frame per second, so each 1-minute video covers 30 minutes of real time. Recommended if you routinely park in busy areas.
Comprehensive event detection
Detects and records driving impacts, parking impacts, sudden acceleration, hard braking, sharp turns and overspeeding using the built-in G-sensor and GPS.

About the BlackVue BVE82CH256GB
From our tech experts at CEN
The BlackVue Elite 8-2CH 256GB is a front and rear dash cam recording 2K QHD (2560×1440) with HDR on both cameras, powered by Sony STARVIS 2 sensors. It has built-in GPS, 2.4–5GHz Wi-Fi, and an ultra-low power parking mode drawing just 1mA. This listing includes a 256GB microSD card; the camera supports cards up to 1TB.
Who it suits
This camera suits drivers who want sharp, well-exposed front and rear footage in varied light, including busy car parks and night driving. The dual HDR also helps with number plate legibility on moving vehicles. Drivers needing only front coverage might prefer the Elite 8-1CH.
Our tech experts advise
The front unit measures 129.7 × 40 × 55.3mm and the rear 67 × 29 × 39.1mm; both connect via the coaxial cable supplied in the box. A hardwiring cable is included for permanent parking mode, though routing cables through a headlining neatly takes time. Professional 2-channel fitting at our Beeston workshop is from £100 — see dash cam installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What SD card do I need for this dash cam?
A: Use a high-endurance microSD card designed for continuous recording. Standard cards wear out quickly in dash cams. CEN stocks suitable high-endurance cards, and the maximum supported capacity is listed in the Specification tab.
Q: Does this dash cam record while the car is parked?
A: Parking mode is listed in the Specification tab. Where supported, it requires constant power from either a hardwire kit or a dedicated dash cam battery pack, both of which CEN stocks.
Q: Do I need to hardwire the dash cam?
A: Not necessarily. All dash cams work from the 12V socket for drive recording. Hardwiring hides the cabling and enables parking mode, and CEN offers professional hardwire installation from our Nottingham premises.
Q: Will the footage be accepted by my insurer or the police?
A: Dash cam footage is widely used in insurance claims and can be submitted to most UK police forces through their online portals. Recording quality matters, so check the resolution in the Specification tab.
Q: Front only or front and rear - which should I choose?
A: A front camera covers the most common claim scenarios. A two-channel system adds rear coverage for rear-end collisions and tailgating evidence, which is where many disputed claims arise. Three-channel systems add an interior view, suited to taxi and fleet use.
Q: Does the Elite 8-2CH record HDR on the rear camera?
A: Yes. Both the front and rear cameras record 2K QHD (2560x1440) at 30fps with HDR, using Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensors.
Q: How does the rear camera connect?
A: The rear camera connects to the front unit with the supplied coaxial rear camera connection cable.
Q: Does it work with BlackVue Cloud?
A: Yes. It is Cloud compatible via the optional LTE Connectivity Module or a third-party Wi-Fi hotspot. Cloud data is not included.
