Redefined Clarity with HDR
The Elite 8-1CH uses a Sony IMX675 STARVIS 2 sensor recording at 2560×1440 pixels with HDR on the front camera. HDR delivers well-balanced footage in both bright sunlight and low light, reduces motion blur, and makes number plates easier to read on moving vehicles.
The 7-element f/2.0 lens provides strong low-light performance, while the 142° diagonal angle gives a wide field of view with minimal distortion.
The Best Daily Protection with Pre-Event Recording
Motion Detection: records a 1-minute buffered video whenever motion is detected. Detection areas can be set manually in the app.
Time Lapse: records at 1 frame per second so each 1-minute video covers 30 minutes of real time. Recommended for drivers who routinely park in busy areas.
Comprehensive Event Detection
The built-in G-Sensor and GPS detect and record driving impacts, parking impacts, sudden acceleration, hard braking, sharp turns, and overspeeding.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What SD card do I need for this dash cam?
A: Use a high-endurance microSD card designed for continuous recording. Standard cards wear out quickly in dash cams. CEN stocks suitable high-endurance cards, and the maximum supported capacity is listed in the Specification tab.
Q: Does this dash cam record while the car is parked?
A: Parking mode is listed in the Specification tab. Where supported, it requires constant power from either a hardwire kit or a dedicated dash cam battery pack, both of which CEN stocks.
Q: Do I need to hardwire the dash cam?
A: Not necessarily. All dash cams work from the 12V socket for drive recording. Hardwiring hides the cabling and enables parking mode, and CEN offers professional hardwire installation from our Nottingham premises.
Q: Will the footage be accepted by my insurer or the police?
A: Dash cam footage is widely used in insurance claims and can be submitted to most UK police forces through their online portals. Recording quality matters, so check the resolution in the Specification tab.
Q: Front only or front and rear - which should I choose?
A: A front camera covers the most common claim scenarios. A two-channel system adds rear coverage for rear-end collisions and tailgating evidence, which is where many disputed claims arise. Three-channel systems add an interior view, suited to taxi and fleet use.
Q: What resolution does the Elite 8-1CH record at?
A: It records 2K QHD (2560x1440) at 30fps with HDR, using a Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensor and a 142-degree lens.
Q: Is a rear camera included with the Elite 8-1CH?
A: No. The Elite 8-1CH is a single-channel, front-only dash cam. The Elite 8-2CH adds a 2K QHD HDR rear camera.
Q: Does it work with BlackVue Cloud?
A: Yes. It is Cloud compatible via the optional LTE Connectivity Module or a third-party Wi-Fi hotspot. Cloud data is not included.
