Audison ASP Signal Presence Module for Prima AP8.9bit AP5.9bit AP4.9bit DSP Amps
Couldn't Load Pickup availability
The Audison ASP is a signal presence module compatible with the Audison Prima AP8.9bit, AP5.9bit, and AP4.9bit DSP amplifiers. It simulates a temporary resistive speaker load at start-up so OEM head units keep their outputs active during factory-integrated installations.
Key specifications
- Compatible amplifiers: Audison Prima AP8.9bit, AP5.9bit, AP4.9bit
- Function: temporary resistive load at amplifier start-up
- Load: removed automatically once the source unit is satisfied
- Benefit: no constant heat or strain on the head unit, unlike fixed resistors
ASP Signal Presence: what it does
Some OEM head units require a resistive load at their outputs on start-up to confirm speakers are present. If no load is detected, the source cuts the outputs — typically the rear channels — which prevents you from setting input levels during calibration. The ASP module solves this when fitting the AP8.9bit, AP5.9bit, or AP4.9bit in a factory-integrated system.
The ASP simulates a temporary load when the amplifier powers on. Once the source is satisfied, the load is automatically removed. No signal is lost and no manual workaround is needed.
Why not just use resistors?
Fixed power resistors wired to the source outputs would do a similar job, but they stay connected permanently. This generates heat continuously and puts unnecessary strain on the head unit. The ASP removes itself from the circuit after start-up, so there is no ongoing load and no wasted heat.

About the Audison ASP
From our tech experts at CEN
The Audison ASP is a signal presence module for the Prima AP4.9 bit, AP5.9 bit and AP8.9 bit DSP amplifiers. Some factory head units check for a speaker load at start-up and cut their outputs, often the rear channels, if they find none. The ASP presents a temporary resistive load as the amplifier powers on, then removes it once the source is satisfied.
Who it suits
Anyone fitting one of those amplifiers into a factory system that keeps the original head unit. It is the tidy alternative to fixed power resistors, which stay connected permanently, give off heat and keep a load on the head unit.
Our tech experts advise
Not every car needs one. The usual sign is missing channels when you try to set input levels during calibration, so we check how the vehicle behaves before fitting. Installation is priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year and we will confirm what it needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why do I need the ASP module?
A: Some OEM sources need a resistive load on their outputs at start-up to confirm speakers are present. Without it they cut the outputs, usually the rear channels, which stops you setting input levels during calibration. The ASP simulates that load when the amplifier powers on.
Q: Why not just fit resistors instead?
A: Fixed power resistors stay connected permanently, generating heat and putting strain on the head unit. The ASP removes itself from the circuit after start-up, so there is no ongoing load.
Q: Which amplifiers is the ASP for?
A: The Audison Prima AP8.9bit, AP5.9bit and AP4.9bit DSP amplifiers.
