The Viofo A229 Plus 1CH is a front-only 2K Quad HD dash cam featuring a Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensor, HDR, 5GHz Wi-Fi, quad-mode GPS and voice control. It is part of the Viofo A229 Plus range.

Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 Sensor
The A229 Plus uses the Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 image sensor, which offers 2.5 times wider dynamic range and higher light sensitivity than standard STARVIS technology, resulting in significantly less noise and motion blur in day and night recording.
2K HDR | Night Vision 2.0
The Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensor, combined with advanced HDR technology, balances bright and dark areas to restore accurate 2K detail at night — including number plate details in fast-moving traffic.
Smart Voice Control & Notification
Voice control lets you start/stop recording, take photos, and toggle Wi-Fi using spoken commands in English, Chinese, Russian or Japanese. The camera also provides audible notifications for settings changes and memory card errors.
Ultra Fast 5GHz Wi-Fi
The built-in 5GHz Wi-Fi module provides faster data transfer than standard 2.4GHz connections, enabling smooth video previewing, downloading and sharing via the Viofo app.
Super Fast Video Downloads to Phone Directly
Connect via USB2.0 Type-C to Type-C cable for direct smartphone transfers at up to 20MB/s on iPhone 15. This connection also supports firmware updates. To enable hardwire parking mode, the Viofo HK4 hardwire cable is compatible with the A229 Plus.
Ultra-Precise GPS
The built-in quad-mode GPS module supports four satellite positioning systems — GPS, BEIDOU, GALILEO and GLONASS — for improved accuracy and stability. Location, speed and time data are recorded and viewable via the Viofo app or on a computer during playback. The A229 Plus supports up to a 512GB Viofo microSD card for extended recording.

The A229 Plus 1CH is the front-only version of VIOFO's A229 Plus value camera. It records 2K through a Sony STARVIS 2 sensor, with HDR to keep plates readable against low sun and headlights, and runs on a supercapacitor rather than a battery so it handles a hot cabin in summer and a frozen screen in winter.
Who it suits
Drivers who want solid evidence of what happens ahead without paying for a rear camera. Most claims are decided on the forward view, and a single unit is quicker to fit and tidier on the screen. You can add the rear camera later by stepping up to the 2-channel kit, or go straight to the A229 Pro if you want 4K at the front.

Q: What SD card do I need for this dash cam?
A: Use a high-endurance microSD card designed for continuous recording. Standard cards wear out quickly in dash cams. CEN stocks suitable high-endurance cards, and the maximum supported capacity is listed in the Specification tab.
Q: Does this dash cam record while the car is parked?
A: Parking mode is listed in the Specification tab. Where supported, it requires constant power from either a hardwire kit or a dedicated dash cam battery pack, both of which CEN stocks.
Q: Do I need to hardwire the dash cam?
A: Not necessarily. All dash cams work from the 12V socket for drive recording. Hardwiring hides the cabling and enables parking mode, and CEN offers professional hardwire installation from our Nottingham premises.
Q: Will the footage be accepted by my insurer or the police?
A: Dash cam footage is widely used in insurance claims and can be submitted to most UK police forces through their online portals. Recording quality matters, so check the resolution in the Specification tab.
Q: Front only or front and rear - which should I choose?
A: A front camera covers the most common claim scenarios. A two-channel system adds rear coverage for rear-end collisions and tailgating evidence, which is where many disputed claims arise. Three-channel systems add an interior view, suited to taxi and fleet use.
