The Viofo A229 Pro Tele 2CH is a dual-channel dash cam combining a 4K wide-angle front camera and a 2K telephoto front camera with 4x optical zoom, both using Sony STARVIS 2 sensors with HDR. It is part of the Viofo A229 Pro range.

2-channel 4K and 2K 4x optical zoom dash cam

Equipped with dual forward-facing cameras using Sony STARVIS 2 technology, the A229 Pro Tele records in both 4K wide-angle and 2K telephoto views. The 4x optical zoom telephoto camera captures distant details clearly, making it well suited to reading number plates from a distance.

IMX678 & IMX675 sensors

The A229 Pro Tele uses two Sony STARVIS 2 image sensors — the IMX678 and IMX675. Both offer wider dynamic range and higher light sensitivity than standard STARVIS, reducing noise and motion blur in day and night recording.

4K Ultra HD front recording

The front camera records in 4K using a Sony STARVIS 2 1/1.8" 8MP sensor, delivering greater clarity and detail day and night, including at high speeds.

2K video, 4x optical zoom

The telephoto camera uses 4x optical zoom to capture distant details — number plates, road signs and scenery — in sharp 2K with no distortion. It complements the wide-angle front camera by adding a second forward perspective for a more comprehensive view of the road.

Built for number plate capture

The A229 Pro Tele is designed with number plate capture in mind. The 4x optical zoom brings distant vehicles into sharp focus, and the Sony STARVIS 2 sensor maintains performance in low light, helping capture clear plates at night or in fast-moving traffic.

2-channel HDR

Sony STARVIS 2 sensors combined with HDR technology balance bright and dark areas across both channels, accurately restoring 4K and 2K detail at night and in varied lighting conditions.

Ultra-fast 5GHz Wi-Fi

Built-in dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) provides fast data transfer for smooth video previewing, downloading and sharing via the Viofo app.

USB 2.0 Type-C — direct video downloads to phone

Connect the dash cam directly to a smartphone using a USB 2.0 Type-C to Type-C cable for fast photo and video downloads — up to 20MB/s on iPhone 16. This connection also supports firmware updates. A Viofo 512GB U3 A2 V30 microSD card is available separately for high-capacity storage.

Smart voice control & notification

Voice control lets you start recording, take photos, and toggle Wi-Fi using spoken commands in English, Chinese, Russian or Japanese. The camera also gives audible notifications for settings changes and memory card errors.
