Powering parking mode
If you want to keep your dash cam running while parked, a dedicated power source is the most reliable approach. As an alternative to a battery pack, Viofo also offers hardwire kits such as the Viofo HK4 hardwire parking mode power cable, which draws power directly from the vehicle's fuse box.

About the Viofo EP100
From our tech experts at CEN
The EP100 is an expansion battery that connects to the BP100 to roughly double how long the camera can record while parked.
Who it suits
Drivers already running a BP100 who want more parking hours: long-stay parking, overnight street parking, or vehicles left at depots and airports.
Our tech experts advise
The EP100 needs a BP100 to work, it is not a standalone pack. Mount both where they are secure and ventilated, typically under a seat or in the boot. See dash cam installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What SD card do I need for this dash cam?
A: Use a high-endurance microSD card designed for continuous recording. Standard cards wear out quickly in dash cams. CEN stocks suitable high-endurance cards, and the maximum supported capacity is listed in the Specification tab.
Q: Does this dash cam record while the car is parked?
A: Parking mode is listed in the Specification tab. Where supported, it requires constant power from either a hardwire kit or a dedicated dash cam battery pack, both of which CEN stocks.
Q: Do I need to hardwire the dash cam?
A: Not necessarily. All dash cams work from the 12V socket for drive recording. Hardwiring hides the cabling and enables parking mode, and CEN offers professional hardwire installation from our Nottingham premises.
Q: Will the footage be accepted by my insurer or the police?
A: Dash cam footage is widely used in insurance claims and can be submitted to most UK police forces through their online portals. Recording quality matters, so check the resolution in the Specification tab.
Q: Front only or front and rear - which should I choose?
A: A front camera covers the most common claim scenarios. A two-channel system adds rear coverage for rear-end collisions and tailgating evidence, which is where many disputed claims arise. Three-channel systems add an interior view, suited to taxi and fleet use.
Q: Can the VIOFO EP100 be used on its own?
A: No. The EP100 cannot operate independently and must be used with the VIOFO BP100 battery pack.
Q: How much capacity does the VIOFO EP100 add?
A: Each EP100 is 12.8V, 7650mAh (98Wh). Running one BP100 with two EP100 units gives up to 22950mAh in total.
Q: What is in the box with the VIOFO EP100?
A: The EP100 expansion battery and a connecting cable.
