This listing is for the A229 Plus 2CH (front and rear). A microSD card is not included — the Viofo 512GB Dash Camera MicroSD Card is compatible and available separately. For hardwiring to enable parking mode, the Viofo HK4 Hardwire Parking Mode Power Cable (USB Type-C) is compatible with the A229.

The A229 Plus comes with dual cameras using Sony STARVIS 2 technology, supporting 2K Quad HD recording for both front and rear. It delivers strong video quality with fine detail in day and night conditions.
Dual Sony STARVIS 2 Sensors
The A229 Plus uses two Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 image sensors, offering 2.5 times wider dynamic range and higher light sensitivity than standard STARVIS, with significantly less noise and motion blur day and night.
HDR for Front and Rear Cameras
The dual Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensors, combined with HDR, balance bright and dark areas to accurately capture 2K detail at night and record licence plate details on fast-moving vehicles from both front and rear.
Smart Voice Control and Notification
Voice control lets you start/stop recording, take photos, and toggle Wi-Fi using spoken commands in English, Chinese, Russian or Japanese. The camera also notifies you of settings changes or memory card errors.
Ultra Fast 5GHz Wi-Fi
Built-in dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) provides fast data transfer for smooth video previewing, downloading and sharing via the VIOFO app.
Ultra-Precise GPS
The quad-mode GPS module supports GPS, BeiDou, Galileo and GLONASS for improved positioning accuracy and stability. Location, speed and time data are recorded and viewable on the VIOFO app or computer during playback.
Loop Recording and Auto Emergency Lock
The A229 Plus records in a continuous loop, overwriting the oldest footage with the newest. The built-in G-sensor automatically locks footage when a collision is detected, preserving the incident for later review.

The A229 Plus 2CH is the value end of the VIOFO range and, for a lot of drivers, all the camera they actually need. Both cameras record 2K through STARVIS 2 sensors, which reads a plate clearly at a sensible following distance day or night. It runs on a supercapacitor rather than a battery, so it shrugs off a car that bakes in July and sits frozen in January.
Who it suits
Drivers who want proper front and rear cover at the sharpest price in the range. For everyday commuting, motorway miles and car park knocks, 2K at both ends is plenty, and the money saved covers a hardwire kit and a decent card. Step up to the A229 Pro if you want 4K at the front for plates at greater distance, or the 3-channel version if you carry passengers and need an infrared cabin camera.

A: Use a high-endurance microSD card designed for continuous recording. Standard cards wear out quickly in dash cams. CEN stocks suitable high-endurance cards, and the maximum supported capacity is listed in the Specification tab.
Q: Does this dash cam record while the car is parked?
A: Parking mode is listed in the Specification tab. Where supported, it requires constant power from either a hardwire kit or a dedicated dash cam battery pack, both of which CEN stocks.
Q: Do I need to hardwire the dash cam?
A: Not necessarily. All dash cams work from the 12V socket for drive recording. Hardwiring hides the cabling and enables parking mode, and CEN offers professional hardwire installation from our Nottingham premises.
Q: Will the footage be accepted by my insurer or the police?
A: Dash cam footage is widely used in insurance claims and can be submitted to most UK police forces through their online portals. Recording quality matters, so check the resolution in the Specification tab.
Q: Front only or front and rear - which should I choose?
A: A front camera covers the most common claim scenarios. A two-channel system adds rear coverage for rear-end collisions and tailgating evidence, which is where many disputed claims arise. Three-channel systems add an interior view, suited to taxi and fleet use.
Q: What resolution does the Viofo A229 Plus record front and rear?
A: It records 2K on both cameras, up to 2K at 60 fps front with 2K at 30 fps rear. Other modes include 21:9 2K and 1080p on both channels.
Q: Is a memory card included with the Viofo A229 Plus?
