Engineered for high power and deep bass performance
With a recommended power range of 300 to 750W RMS, the IQ W8-DVC2 suits a wide range of applications and is optimised for high-power amplifier configurations, ensuring consistently precise bass reproduction even at extreme levels. Its 3-layer fibreglass-Mylar honeycomb cone provides maximum rigidity and optimal internal damping, minimising distortion and keeping low-frequency performance tight, controlled and dynamic. Exceptional transient response means complex bass passages are reproduced clearly and with precision.
A highly efficient cooling system — featuring a large-diameter vented pole piece and an airflow-optimised basket design — enables continuous air circulation, preventing overheating and thermal compression. This keeps performance consistent even during prolonged high-output use.
Proprietary Tuneable Mass System (TMS) — fine-tuning for your sound
The Tuneable Mass System (TMS) allows you to customise the acoustic characteristics of the subwoofer. By adding or removing specific weights inside the dustcap, the moving mass of the driver can be altered, directly influencing the subwoofer's response and efficiency.
Without additional weight, the subwoofer maintains a higher resonant frequency, giving maximum efficiency and fast transient response — ideal for high-output setups and tight, punchy bass. Adding mass lowers the resonant frequency, delivering deeper, more authoritative bass suited to sealed enclosures or low-tuned bass reflex systems.
This fine-tuning capability allows precise adaptation to enclosure volume and in-car acoustics. A higher moving mass extends low-frequency performance; a lower moving mass improves efficiency and makes the subwoofer suitable for use with moderate amplifier power. This flexibility makes the IQ W8-DVC2 the ideal choice for those seeking ultimate sound precision and adaptability. For those looking to get the most from this flexibility, pairing with a Helix DSP Mini MK2 or similar signal processor can help dial in the system further.
Flexible connection for seamless system integration
The 2 x 2 ohm dual voice coil gives maximum compatibility with a variety of amplifier setups. Depending on the wiring configuration, the driver can be operated at 1 ohm or 4 ohms as well as the standard 2 x 2 ohm configuration, making it suitable for high-power monoblock amplifiers and multi-subwoofer setups alike. This allows seamless integration into both existing and newly designed sound systems.
In sealed enclosures the IQ W8-DVC2 delivers tight, controlled bass with outstanding transient response. In bass reflex systems it provides exceptional low-frequency extension and high output capability — making it adaptable across a wide range of system applications.
Sophisticated and robust construction for long-lasting performance
The IQ W8-DVC2 features a meticulously engineered die-cast aluminium basket that maximises stability and eliminates unwanted resonance, ensuring consistent and precise bass reproduction even during extreme cone excursion.
A protective grille is integrated directly into the basket. This provides optimal protection for the cone and allows for clean integration into the vehicle's interior — particularly useful in tight installation spaces or vehicles with limited mounting options. Thanks to its sturdy construction, the IQ W8-DVC2 remains highly durable under heavy loads, delivering consistent sound quality over the long term.

Our tech experts advise
Even a matched enclosure needs the amplifier set correctly and the crossover point chosen against your front speakers, otherwise it draws attention to itself instead of filling in underneath. Installation and tuning are priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year and we will confirm what it needs. See car audio installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need an amplifier for this subwoofer?
A: Yes, unless it is an active (powered) subwoofer with a built-in amplifier. Passive subwoofers need an external amplifier matched to the RMS power and impedance shown in the Specification tab.
Q: What size enclosure does this subwoofer need?
A: The recommended enclosure volume is listed in the Specification tab where the manufacturer provides it. As a rule, sealed enclosures give tighter, more accurate bass while ported enclosures deliver more output. Contact CEN if you would like a recommendation for your build.
Q: What does RMS power mean?
A: RMS is the continuous power a subwoofer can handle, and it is the number that matters when matching an amplifier. Peak or max figures describe short bursts only. Match your amplifier output to the RMS rating in the Specification tab.
Q: Sealed or ported enclosure - which should I choose?
A: Sealed boxes are compact and produce tight, controlled bass suited to sound quality builds. Ported boxes are larger and produce more output at low frequencies, suited to those who want maximum impact. Either works well when built to the recommended volume.
Q: Can CEN build or supply an enclosure and fit everything?
A: Yes. CEN supplies enclosures and offers professional installation from our Nottingham premises, including amplifier wiring. Contact us to discuss your build.
Q: What is the Tuneable Mass System on the IQ W8-DVC2?
A: It lets you add or remove weights in the dustcap to change the moving mass (115 g to 274 g). Adding mass lowers the resonant frequency from 43 Hz to as low as 30 Hz for deeper bass, while less mass gives higher efficiency.
Q: Can the IQ W8-DVC2 be wired to 1 ohm or 4 ohms?
A: Yes. Its 2 x 2 ohm dual voice coil can be wired for 1 ohm or 4 ohms, as well as run as 2 x 2 ohms.
Q: How deep is the IQ W8-DVC2?
A: The installation depth is 114.5 mm, with an installation diameter of 183 mm.
