The Helix IQ W12-DVC2 is a 12-inch (300 mm) high-performance car subwoofer rated at 750W RMS (1,500W max), with a 2 x 2 ohm dual voice coil and Helix's Tuneable Mass System for adjusting cone mass to suit your enclosure. It works in both sealed and bass reflex boxes. It is part of the Helix IQ Performance subwoofer range.

Smaller versions are also available: the IQ W10-DVC2 and the IQ W8-DVC2.

With a recommended power range of 300–750W RMS, the IQ W12-DVC2 suits a wide range of high-power amplifier configurations. The 3-layer fibreglass-Mylar honeycomb cone provides rigidity and internal damping, minimising distortion and delivering tight, controlled low-frequency performance. Transient response is strong enough to handle complex bass passages cleanly and with precision.

A large-diameter vented pole piece and airflow-optimised basket work together to maintain continuous air circulation, preventing overheating and thermal compression during prolonged high-output use.

Proprietary Tuneable Mass System (TMS) — fine-tuning for your sound

The TMS lets you add or remove specific weights inside the dustcap to modify the moving mass of the driver, directly altering its response and efficiency. Without additional weight, the subwoofer runs at a higher resonant frequency — ideal for high-output setups and punchy bass. Adding mass lowers the resonant frequency for deeper bass, making it well suited to sealed enclosures or low-tuned bass reflex systems.

A higher moving mass extends low-frequency performance; a lower moving mass improves efficiency and suits use with moderate amplifier power. This makes the IQ W12-DVC2 straightforward to adapt to different enclosure volumes and in-car acoustics. For best results, a Helix DSP can be used alongside to further refine the system's output.

Flexible connection for seamless system integration

The 2 x 2 ohm dual voice coil allows the IQ W12-DVC2 to be wired to 1 ohm or 4 ohms, as well as the typical 2 x 2 ohm configuration. This makes it compatible with high-power monoblock amplifiers and multi-subwoofer setups alike.

In sealed enclosures it delivers tight, controlled bass with strong transient response. In bass reflex systems it offers extended low-frequency reach and high output capability.

Robust construction for long-lasting performance

The IQ W12-DVC2 uses a die-cast aluminium basket for maximum rigidity and to eliminate unwanted resonance, maintaining precise bass reproduction even at extreme cone excursion. A protective grille is integrated directly into the basket, protecting the cone whilst keeping the installation clean — useful in tight spaces or vehicles with limited mounting options.
