This listing is the dual voice coil (DVC2) version. The IK ER8.1 is also available as the IK ER8.1-SVC2 single 2 ohm version. A downfire variant is available as the Helix IK E8.1-DVC2.

A: Yes, unless it is an active (powered) subwoofer with a built-in amplifier. Passive subwoofers need an external amplifier matched to the RMS power and impedance shown in the Specification tab.
