HDZ-653 sound performance
Alpine developed the Status range using the same engineering and design concepts as the third-generation Ultra High-Resolution AlpineF#1Status system, bringing high-resolution sound to a more accessible price point. All Status components can also be purchased and used in a stand-alone configuration.

- AlpineF#1Status speaker trickle-down technology
- Maximum peak power: 300W
- Maximum RMS power: 100W
- Woofer diameter: 170 mm (177 mm with grille)
- Mid-range diameter: 96 mm
- Tweeter diameter: 70 mm (25 mm voice coil)
- Aluminium die-cast baskets
- Ring-radiator tweeters
- Backed carbon fibre cones
- Double-gathered edge
- High-end crossover networks
- Speaker grilles included
- Integrated wave guide on all speakers
The HDZ-653 covers 55 Hz to 40 kHz and includes a 170 mm door woofer, 96 mm mid-range, 70 mm ring-radiator tweeter with 25 mm voice coil, and high-end crossovers. All cones use the same carbon composite material for a unified timbre identity, with construction and motor assembly closely mirroring the AlpineF#1Status speakers.
Audiophile 3-way speaker system
Drawing on AlpineF#1Status trickle-down technology, the HDZ-653 delivers Hi-Res Audio certified performance up to 40 kHz. High-end crossover networks are included in the set.
Carbon fibre cones
All drivers in this set — as well as the HDZ-110 Alpine Status subwoofer — use backed carbon composite cones for a unified timbre identity and excellent harmonics. Carbon is lightweight and stiff, giving high dynamics and low distortion. The same backed carbon composite technology is used in race-car monocoques for its strength-to-weight ratio.
Double-gathered edge
Trickling down from the AlpineF#1Status speakers, the double-gathered edge allows maximum cone excursion with strong cone control and stability, reducing distortion caused by cone wobble at higher volumes.
High-end ring-radiator tweeter
The 70 mm Hi-Res Audio ring-radiator tweeters reach 40 kHz and feature a 25 mm carbon fibre diaphragm tuned to harmonise with the mid-range and woofer. Each tweeter includes an integrated wave guide, a tuned back chamber and a neodymium magnet.

About the Alpine HDZ-653
From our tech experts at CEN
A 6.5 inch three-way component set, with separate tweeter, midrange and woofer, rated at 100w RMS. Component sets sound better because the tweeter can be aimed towards your ears rather than firing into your knees.
Who it suits
Drivers who want the best result from a door upgrade and are happy for tweeters to be mounted separately, which usually means a professional fit. At 100w RMS these deserve an amplifier rather than running from the head unit.
Our tech experts advise
Speaker sizes, adapter rings and harnesses vary by vehicle, year and trim, so we check what your car takes before ordering rather than guessing. Door treatment matters as much as the speaker. Installation is priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year and we will confirm what it needs and what the work involves. See car audio installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will these speakers fit my car?
A: Most car speakers are standard sizes, but mounting depth and fitting rings vary by vehicle. Check the size in the Specification tab against your vehicle, or contact CEN with your registration and we will confirm fitment and any adapters or fitting kits you need.
Q: Do I need an amplifier to run these speakers?
A: Not always. Most speakers will run from a standard head unit, but a dedicated amplifier lets them perform at their best, particularly for component sets and higher power handling models. The RMS figure in the Specification tab is the guide to how much clean power they can use.
Q: What is the difference between coaxial and component speakers?
A: Coaxial speakers combine the tweeter and woofer in one unit for a simple like-for-like upgrade. Component sets separate the tweeter and woofer with a crossover for better imaging and detail, and suit installs where sound quality is the priority.
Q: Do these come as a pair?
A: Unless stated otherwise, car speakers are sold in pairs. Check the product title and What's Included tab, which lists exactly what is in the box.
Q: Can CEN fit these speakers for me?
A: Yes. CEN offers professional installation from our Nottingham premises. Contact us to book an installation slot or ask for a fitting quote.
Q: What drivers are in the Alpine HDZ-653 set?
A: Each side has a 170 mm woofer, a 96 mm mid-range and a 70 mm ring-radiator tweeter with a 25 mm voice coil, and the set includes high-end crossover networks.
Q: What mounting depth do the HDZ-653 need?
A: The woofer needs 67 mm mounting depth with a 142 mm cut-out, and the mid-range needs 39 mm with a 79 mm cut-out.
Q: What's in the box with the HDZ-653?
A: The HDZ-653 speakers, grilles, crossovers, screws and speed clips.
