2K front camera and 1080p rear dash cam
A high-quality image processor captures clear video from the front camera (1440p 30fps) and rear camera (1080p 30fps). For a step up in resolution, the Thinkware U1000 Plus offers 4K UHD front and 1080p rear recording with GPS and Wi-Fi.
Easy Wi-Fi device pairing with the Thinkware Link app and Bluetooth
Built-in Bluetooth allows simple pairing with your Android or iOS device via the Thinkware Link app. Once paired, you can replay driving footage and manage settings directly from the app.
Sony Exmor R STARVIS image sensor
The Sony Exmor R STARVIS sensor delivers rich colours and sharp detail in low-light conditions. STARVIS technology enhances low-light sensitivity across the visible and near-infrared range, enabling clear imaging even in poor lighting.
Thinkware CONNECTED
- Connected features require internet access via a mobile hotspot or Wi-Fi network. Carrier charges may apply.
- The smartphone used to set up the internet connection on a compatible dash cam cannot simultaneously act as the mobile hotspot — a separate hotspot device is required.
- Use the Thinkware Dash Cam Link app to connect the dash cam to the internet, then access CONNECTED features via the Thinkware CONNECTED app.
- Thinkware CONNECTED is currently in beta; some features may be unavailable or limited.
- The hotspot data source requires a permanent power supply to maintain a 4G signal to the dash cam.
- An additional battery backup such as the iVolt Mini or Pro is strongly recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What SD card do I need for this dash cam?
A: Use a high-endurance microSD card designed for continuous recording. Standard cards wear out quickly in dash cams. CEN stocks suitable high-endurance cards, and the maximum supported capacity is listed in the Specification tab.
Q: Does this dash cam record while the car is parked?
A: Parking mode is listed in the Specification tab. Where supported, it requires constant power from either a hardwire kit or a dedicated dash cam battery pack, both of which CEN stocks.
Q: Do I need to hardwire the dash cam?
A: Not necessarily. All dash cams work from the 12V socket for drive recording. Hardwiring hides the cabling and enables parking mode, and CEN offers professional hardwire installation from our Nottingham premises.
Q: Will the footage be accepted by my insurer or the police?
A: Dash cam footage is widely used in insurance claims and can be submitted to most UK police forces through their online portals. Recording quality matters, so check the resolution in the Specification tab.
Q: Front only or front and rear - which should I choose?
A: A front camera covers the most common claim scenarios. A two-channel system adds rear coverage for rear-end collisions and tailgating evidence, which is where many disputed claims arise. Three-channel systems add an interior view, suited to taxi and fleet use.
Q: Does the Thinkware Q850 come with a rear camera?
A: Yes. This is the 2-channel kit, with a 2K QHD front camera, a 1080p rear camera and a rear camera cable.
Q: Is an SD card included with the Thinkware Q850?
A: Yes. A 64GB microSD card is included, and the Q850 supports cards from 32GB up to 256GB.
Q: Does the Thinkware Q850 have GPS and safety camera alerts?
A: Yes. GPS is built in, and the Q850 includes safety camera alerts and a road safety warning system.
