POWERBOX80.4M-V0: 4-channel Class D amplifier

  • Amplifies and upgrades almost any OEM or aftermarket radio
  • Plug-and-play adapters available for ease of install

The Powerbox Mini range builds on the Powerbox Micro platform, pushing the compact footprint further with more power and refinement.

Deltabox connectivity

The Powerbox 80.4M accepts RCA inputs at 0.5–6V and features a Deltabox high-level input circuit that accepts up to 35V — eliminating the need for a separate line-level converter. The Deltabox circuit uses a DC offset auto-sense turn-on, meaning no remote turn-on wire is needed when using this method. DC offset sensing provides a more stable and reliable turn-on than traditional signal sensing.

OPTISOUND advanced OEM integration

VIBE's OPTISOUND technology prevents the auto-detection errors and OEM error messages that commonly occur when fitting aftermarket amplifiers to modern vehicles. It stops the vehicle sensing changes in resistance, avoiding issues such as speakers cutting out or the fader disappearing from the head unit menu. Powerbox amps are well suited to OEM upgrades where the factory head unit must be retained.

VIBE Sound Studio active crossovers

High- and low-pass filters with a 12dB slope allow all four channels to run passive or active systems safely. In full-range mode the amp operates across a 10Hz–30kHz bandwidth, making it suitable for high bit-rate audio and high-frequency tweeters. The VIBE Sound Studio active crossover networks let you run speakers fully active without complex external crossovers.

About the Vibe POWERBOX80.4M

From our tech experts at CEN

The Vibe Powerbox 80.4M is a compact mini Class D 4-channel car amplifier rated at 4 x 80W RMS at 4 ohms, or 4 x 100W RMS at 2 ohms. It accepts RCA and Deltabox high-level inputs up to 35V, with DC offset auto-sense turn-on removing the need for a remote wire. Built-in OPTISOUND circuitry prevents OEM error messages when the factory head unit is retained.

Who it suits

It suits anyone upgrading an OEM or aftermarket system where space is tight and the factory head unit must stay. Those wanting a little less power can look at the Vibe Powerbox 65.4M, or step up to the Vibe Powerbox 100.4M for more output.

Our tech experts advise

At 47 x 230 x 134mm, it tucks neatly under a seat or in a tight boot space. Built-in LP/HP crossover filters with a 12dB slope let you run speakers in active or passive configurations without external crossovers. Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I choose the right amplifier for my speakers or subwoofer?

A: Match the amplifier's RMS output per channel to the RMS handling of your speakers or subwoofer at the same impedance. The Specification tab lists the power figures. If in doubt, contact CEN with your setup and we will recommend a match.

Q: What wiring do I need to install this amplifier?

A: You will need an amplifier wiring kit sized to the amplifier's power draw, typically including power and earth cable, a fuse, RCA leads and a remote wire. CEN stocks complete wiring kits, and the amplifier's fuse rating is the guide to the cable gauge required.

Q: What class of amplifier is this and does it matter?

A: Class D amplifiers are compact and efficient, ideal for subwoofers and modern installs. Class AB designs are traditionally favoured for outright sound quality on mid and high frequencies. The class is listed in the Specification tab where provided.

Q: Will an amplifier work with my factory head unit?

A: Yes, in most cases. If your head unit has no RCA outputs you will need a line output converter to feed the amplifier a clean signal. CEN stocks line output converters and can advise the right one for your vehicle.

Q: Can CEN install this amplifier?

A: Yes. CEN offers professional amplifier installation from our Nottingham premises, including secure mounting, wiring and setup. Contact us to book.

Q: Will the VIBE Powerbox 80.4M work with my factory radio?

A: Yes. It has a Deltabox high level input that accepts up to 35V with DC offset auto-sense turn-on, so it can be connected to a factory head unit without a separate line level converter or remote turn-on wire. OPTISOUND technology is designed to prevent OEM error messages in modern vehicles.

Q: How much power does the Powerbox 80.4M deliver?

A: It delivers 4 x 80W RMS at 4 ohms, 4 x 100W RMS at 2 ohms, or 2 x 240W bridged at 4 ohms, with 960W maximum power.

Q: Can the Powerbox 80.4M run speakers active?

A: Yes. Its VIBE Sound Studio high and low pass filters (12dB slope) allow the four channels to run passive or active speaker systems.
