GM-D9704 4-channel Class-FD car amplifier

Compact 4-channel power

The GM-D9704 puts out 800W RMS in a compact chassis, making it well suited to builds where space is limited.

  • 1-ohm stable circuit for flexible speaker pairing
  • High-power output in a compact chassis

Speaker line input sensor

Connects directly to an existing OEM head unit — no add-on adapters required.

Variable LPF

Adjustable low-pass filter frequency (40–500Hz, -12dB/oct) to suit your speaker configuration and audio setup.

Variable HPF

Adjustable high-pass filter frequency (40–500Hz, -12dB/oct) for greater flexibility across your audio system.

Multi-block terminal

Connect up to 4 subwoofers cleanly through a single multi-block terminal for high-power output.

Class D

The Class FD design runs efficiently in a compact chassis without sacrificing sound quality or volume. If you need a dedicated mono channel for a subwoofer, the Pioneer GM-D8701 mono Class FD amplifier pairs well alongside this unit.

About the Pioneer GM-D9704

From our tech experts at CEN

A 4-channel amplifier, Class FD, rated at 800w RMS. Enough channels for a front and rear stage, or a front stage with the rest bridged onto a sub.

Who it suits

Drivers who have upgraded their speakers and found the head unit cannot drive them properly.

Our tech experts advise

Power figures mean little until the amplifier is matched to the speakers and the gains are set with a meter rather than by ear. It needs a fused feed from the battery on the correct cable gauge. Installation is priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year and we will confirm what it needs. See car audio installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I choose the right amplifier for my speakers or subwoofer?

A: Match the amplifier's RMS output per channel to the RMS handling of your speakers or subwoofer at the same impedance. The Specification tab lists the power figures. If in doubt, contact CEN with your setup and we will recommend a match.

Q: What wiring do I need to install this amplifier?

A: You will need an amplifier wiring kit sized to the amplifier's power draw, typically including power and earth cable, a fuse, RCA leads and a remote wire. CEN stocks complete wiring kits, and the amplifier's fuse rating is the guide to the cable gauge required.

Q: What class of amplifier is this and does it matter?

A: Class D amplifiers are compact and efficient, ideal for subwoofers and modern installs. Class AB designs are traditionally favoured for outright sound quality on mid and high frequencies. The class is listed in the Specification tab where provided.

Q: Will an amplifier work with my factory head unit?

A: Yes, in most cases. If your head unit has no RCA outputs you will need a line output converter to feed the amplifier a clean signal. CEN stocks line output converters and can advise the right one for your vehicle.

Q: Can CEN install this amplifier?

A: Yes. CEN offers professional amplifier installation from our Nottingham premises, including secure mounting, wiring and setup. Contact us to book.

Q: Is the Pioneer GM-D9704 1-ohm stable?

A: Yes. It has a 1-ohm stable circuit and is rated at 4 x 130W RMS into 1 ohm, alongside 4 x 200W RMS into 2 ohms and 4 x 130W RMS into 4 ohms.

Q: Can the GM-D9704 connect to a factory stereo without RCA outputs?

A: Yes. It has a speaker line input sensor that accepts speaker-level signals (0.8V to 16V) from an OEM head unit, so no add-on adapter is needed. RCA inputs (0.2V to 6.5V) are also provided.

Q: Can the GM-D9704 power a subwoofer?

A: Yes. Bridged, it delivers 2 x 400W RMS into 4 ohms, and the variable low-pass filter (40 to 500Hz) lets you set the crossover for a subwoofer. The multi-block terminal allows up to 4 subwoofers to be connected.
