PXA Series — built for any environment

The PXA Series is designed for watercraft, space-challenged vehicles, classic cars, and any application where strain on the charging system needs to be minimised. High-efficiency Class D technology delivers 1400W dynamic power from a small footprint.

Anywhere. Any weather.

Every PXA amplifier is fully waterproof, with sealed bulkhead grommeting, gasketed joints and a sealed preamp control door. This earns both IP66 and IP67 certifications — suitable for use in harsh outdoor and marine environments.

What is IP66 and IP67?

IP66 means the amplifier is protected against heavy seas or powerful jets of water. IP67 means no dust ingress and no moisture when submerged in one metre of water for 30 minutes. Note: these certifications do not apply to the wire couplers.

What's included

The 48PXA10005 includes no-rust stainless-steel mounting hardware and a pair of shielded in-line couplers to extend power and ground connections — no soldering or crimping required.

About the Kicker 48PXA10005

From our tech experts at CEN

A 5-channel amplifier, rated at 1000w RMS. Enough channels for a front and rear stage, or a front stage with the remaining channels bridged onto a sub.

Who it suits

Drivers who have upgraded their speakers and found the head unit cannot drive them. This is the step that makes good speakers sound like good speakers.

Our tech experts advise

Published power figures mean little until the amplifier is matched to the speakers and the gains are set with a meter rather than by ear. It needs a fused feed from the battery on the correct cable gauge, the part we most often see done badly. Installation is priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year and we will confirm what it needs. See car audio installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I choose the right amplifier for my speakers or subwoofer?

A: Match the amplifier's RMS output per channel to the RMS handling of your speakers or subwoofer at the same impedance. The Specification tab lists the power figures. If in doubt, contact CEN with your setup and we will recommend a match.

Q: What wiring do I need to install this amplifier?

A: You will need an amplifier wiring kit sized to the amplifier's power draw, typically including power and earth cable, a fuse, RCA leads and a remote wire. CEN stocks complete wiring kits, and the amplifier's fuse rating is the guide to the cable gauge required.

Q: What class of amplifier is this and does it matter?

A: Class D amplifiers are compact and efficient, ideal for subwoofers and modern installs. Class AB designs are traditionally favoured for outright sound quality on mid and high frequencies. The class is listed in the Specification tab where provided.

Q: Will an amplifier work with my factory head unit?

A: Yes, in most cases. If your head unit has no RCA outputs you will need a line output converter to feed the amplifier a clean signal. CEN stocks line output converters and can advise the right one for your vehicle.

Q: Can CEN install this amplifier?

A: Yes. CEN offers professional amplifier installation from our Nottingham premises, including secure mounting, wiring and setup. Contact us to book.

Q: How waterproof are the Kicker PXA amplifiers?

A: They are IP66 and IP67 certified: protected against powerful jets of water, dust-tight, and able to withstand submersion in 1 metre of water for 30 minutes. The certifications do not apply to the wire couplers.

Q: Can I add a remote level control to the 48PXA10005?

A: Yes. It works with the Kicker CXARC controller, which is sold separately.

Q: How many channels does the 48PXA10005 have?

A: Five: four full-range channels rated at 100W x 4 at 4 ohms or 150W x 4 at 2 ohms, plus a subwoofer channel rated at 500W at 2 ohms or 600W at 1 ohm.
