Couldn't Load Pickup availability
The Audison bit DMI is a digital MOST interface that connects Audison bit processors and Audison amplifiers (with digital input) to OEM fibre optic multimedia systems, passing a lossless S/PDIF signal whilst preserving factory head unit controls. It is part of the Audison bit processing range.
Key specifications
- Input: MOST optical (MOST IN/OUT socket connector)
- Output: TOSLINK optical S/PDIF, Stereo PCM 16 bit, 44.1kHz/48kHz (depending on the system)
- Power supply: 8–18 VDC; idling current 150 mA; switched off below 5 mA
- Remote: automatic turn on/off via MOST; remote out 12 VDC (200 mA)
- PC connection: USB Mini B (2.0) for configuration and updates
- Software: Windows-based (XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8)
- Dimensions (W x H x D): 141.5 x 36.5 x 86.5 mm; weight 0.26 kg
bit DMI: Digital MOST Interface
The bit DMI connects via optical fibre to the car's MOST multimedia system, allowing Audison bit processors and Audison amplifiers with digital input to receive a lossless audio signal directly from the OEM head unit. If your BMW uses a MOST-based HK or OEM amplified system, the Audison AP H ASD bypass harness may also be relevant to your installation.
- MOST optical input: connects via optical fibre to the OEM multimedia system.
- TOSLINK optical output: S/PDIF output transfers audio in Stereo PCM 16 bit format at 44.1kHz/48kHz (depending on the system) to compatible Audison products with digital input.
- Digital controls: 1 x USB Mini B (2.0) port for PC connection.
- Configuration: programmed and updated via USB and the dedicated Windows software, enabling compatibility with vehicles equipped with MOST technology.
- Start controls: switches on and off automatically with the car's MOST system and generates the remote out signal.
- OEM integration: preserves factory volume, balance and tone controls, plus service signals including speakerphone, navigator and parking sensors.
- bit DMI software: Windows-based (Win2000, XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8).

About the Audison bit DMI
From our tech experts at CEN
A digital interface for factory MOST fibre-optic audio, taking the signal from the car’s optical network and making it usable by aftermarket processing and amplification.
Who it suits
Owners of vehicles built with fibre-optic audio, common on BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Porsche, where there is no conventional speaker-level signal to tap and the usual upgrade route does not exist.
Our tech experts advise
These systems vary by manufacturer and model year, and the wrong interface is wasted money. This is exactly the job to have checked first — get in touch and we will confirm what your car uses. See car audio installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What does the Audison bit DMI do?
A: It connects to a car's MOST fibre optic multimedia system and converts the signal to a TOSLINK optical S/PDIF output, so Audison bit processors and Audison amplifiers with digital input can be added without loss of quality.
Q: Will I keep my factory head unit controls with the bit DMI?
A: Yes. Volume, balance and tone controls stay intact, along with service signals such as the speakerphone, navigation prompts and parking sensor alerts.
Q: Does the bit DMI switch on automatically?
A: Yes. It switches on and off automatically with the car's MOST system and generates a 12 VDC remote out signal for the rest of the system.
Q: How is the bit DMI configured?
A: It connects to a Windows PC via its USB Mini B (2.0) port and is programmed and updated with the bit DMI software. The software requirements list Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.
