Alpine S2-Series: Next-Generation Car Amplification
The S2-A55V is part of Alpine's next-generation S-Series amplifier range, redesigned with upgraded features over its predecessors at an accessible price point.
The S2-A55V delivers 60W RMS at 2 ohms to each of your front and rear speakers while simultaneously powering a subwoofer with up to 300W RMS. In a 3-channel 2-way setup, it can drive a pair of front speakers at 120W RMS each alongside the 300W sub channel. A variable bass boost on the sub channel lets you dial in extra low-frequency impact, and an optional wired remote — such as the Alpine RUX-KNOB2 — lets you control bass level from your front seat. Variable high- and low-pass filters give you precise control over the frequency range reaching each speaker or subwoofer.
The amp accepts both RCA pre-amp and speaker-level inputs, making it compatible with virtually any vehicle including factory-fit head units. When using speaker-level inputs, the amp automatically senses the incoming signal and powers on, removing the need for a separate turn-on wire.
Hi-Res Audio Certified
The S2-A55V's 4-channel section is Hi-Res Audio certified, with a frequency response extending to 40kHz for accurate, detailed reproduction across the full audio spectrum.
Flexible Application
A new three-position selectable remote turn-on circuit ensures the amplifier switches on and off correctly with both factory and aftermarket systems, including vehicles with newer in-vehicle technology.
Easy Control Access
Gain and crossover controls are positioned on the side panels rather than the top, making them straightforward to reach when the amp is installed under a seat or in a shallow-depth location. Removable end-caps cover the side controls and connections for a clean finish.
Power a Full System
The S2-A55V's 5-channel design powers up to four speakers plus a subwoofer from a single chassis, making it a compact, all-in-one solution for a complete car audio upgrade.

About the Alpine S2-A55V
From our tech experts at CEN
A 5-channel amplifier, Class D, rated at 540w RMS. Enough channels to run a front and rear stage, or a front stage with the rears bridged for a sub.
Who it suits
Drivers who have upgraded their speakers and found the head unit cannot drive them properly. This is the step that makes good speakers sound like good speakers. Amplification is also what turns a van or camper system from loud into clear.
Our tech experts advise
Power ratings only mean something when the amplifier is matched to the speakers and the gains are set with a meter rather than by ear. It needs a properly fused feed from the battery on the right gauge cable, which is the part we see done badly most often. Installation is priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year and we will confirm what it needs and what the work involves. See car audio installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I choose the right amplifier for my speakers or subwoofer?
A: Match the amplifier's RMS output per channel to the RMS handling of your speakers or subwoofer at the same impedance. The Specification tab lists the power figures. If in doubt, contact CEN with your setup and we will recommend a match.
Q: What wiring do I need to install this amplifier?
A: You will need an amplifier wiring kit sized to the amplifier's power draw, typically including power and earth cable, a fuse, RCA leads and a remote wire. CEN stocks complete wiring kits, and the amplifier's fuse rating is the guide to the cable gauge required.
Q: What class of amplifier is this and does it matter?
A: Class D amplifiers are compact and efficient, ideal for subwoofers and modern installs. Class AB designs are traditionally favoured for outright sound quality on mid and high frequencies. The class is listed in the Specification tab where provided.
Q: Will an amplifier work with my factory head unit?
A: Yes, in most cases. If your head unit has no RCA outputs you will need a line output converter to feed the amplifier a clean signal. CEN stocks line output converters and can advise the right one for your vehicle.
Q: Can CEN install this amplifier?
A: Yes. CEN offers professional amplifier installation from our Nottingham premises, including secure mounting, wiring and setup. Contact us to book.
Q: How much power does the Alpine S2-A55V deliver?
A: At 2 ohms it delivers 4 x 60W plus 1 x 300W RMS. At 4 ohms it delivers 4 x 40W plus 1 x 200W RMS, and the speaker channels can be bridged for 2 x 120W RMS at 4 ohms.
Q: Can the S2-A55V power a whole system?
A: Yes. Its five channels can power up to four speakers plus a subwoofer, or a pair of front speakers at 120W RMS each (bridged) plus a subwoofer at 300W RMS.
Q: Does the S2-A55V work with the RUX-KNOB2 remote?
A: Yes. It is RUX-KNOB2 ready, controlling the level of channel 5 (the subwoofer channel).
