Couldn't Load Pickup availability
The JL Audio 10TW3-D4 is a 10-inch (250mm) shallow-mount subwoofer from the TW3 Series, with dual 4 ohm voice coils and 400W RMS power handling. It is designed for very small sealed enclosures and tight spaces where a conventional subwoofer will not fit.
The TW3 Series is also available as an 8-inch W3 Series subwoofer if a smaller driver suits your install.

10TW3-D4 shallow mount
Building on the core technology of JL Audio's TW5 thin-line subwoofers, the TW3 Series delivers shallow mounting depth alongside impressive excursion capability — greater, in fact, than the W3v3s. JL Audio's patented thin-line woofer technology uses a concentric tube structure built into the injection-moulded cone body. This supports the voice coil and a full annular spider, while moving the large motor structure further forward than conventional designs allow.
TW3s are optimised for small sealed enclosures and use JL Audio's tab-ear mounting design to maximise cone area within the mounting footprint.
- Very shallow mounting depth: 3.25 / 3.50 inches
- No pole vent — permits mounting close to the rear wall of the enclosure
- Very small sealed enclosure volume requirements
- Very long linear excursion capability: 0.60in / 15.2mm one-way
- DMA-optimised motor design
- Concentric tube architecture
- Patented floating cone attach method technology
- Cast alloy frame
- Injection-moulded, mica-filled polypropylene cone
- Rubber surround
- Aluminium-alloy dust cap and rear cap with JL Audio logo
- Precision-built in the USA at JL Audio's Miramar, Florida factory with global components

About the JL Audio 10TW3-D4
From our tech experts at CEN
A JL Audio 10 inch TW3 Series subwoofer driver, shallow mount for vehicles where depth rules out a conventional sub, dual 4 ohm, handling 400w RMS.
Who it suits
Drivers building a system around a properly specified enclosure rather than a box off the shelf. TW3 gives more output than TW1 while staying shallow.
Our tech experts advise
This is a driver, not a finished system: enclosure volume and tuning decide most of what you hear, and JL publish specifications worth building to, and the dual 4 ohm coils decide how it should be wired to your amplifier. We build enclosures to suit both driver and vehicle at our Beeston workshop. Installation is priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year and we will confirm what it needs. Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need an amplifier for this subwoofer?
A: Yes, unless it is an active (powered) subwoofer with a built-in amplifier. Passive subwoofers need an external amplifier matched to the RMS power and impedance shown in the Specification tab.
Q: What size enclosure does this subwoofer need?
A: The recommended enclosure volume is listed in the Specification tab where the manufacturer provides it. As a rule, sealed enclosures give tighter, more accurate bass while ported enclosures deliver more output. Contact CEN if you would like a recommendation for your build.
Q: What does RMS power mean?
A: RMS is the continuous power a subwoofer can handle, and it is the number that matters when matching an amplifier. Peak or max figures describe short bursts only. Match your amplifier output to the RMS rating in the Specification tab.
Q: Sealed or ported enclosure - which should I choose?
A: Sealed boxes are compact and produce tight, controlled bass suited to sound quality builds. Ported boxes are larger and produce more output at low frequencies, suited to those who want maximum impact. Either works well when built to the recommended volume.
Q: Can CEN build or supply an enclosure and fit everything?
A: Yes. CEN supplies enclosures and offers professional installation from our Nottingham premises, including amplifier wiring. Contact us to discuss your build.
Q: How can the dual 4 ohm 10TW3-D4 be wired?
A: Its two 4 ohm voice coils can be wired in parallel for a 2 ohm load or in series for an 8 ohm load, so you can match the subwoofer to your amplifier's stable impedance.
Q: What amplifier power suits the 10TW3-D4?
A: JL Audio recommends 200 to 400W RMS. The subwoofer's continuous power handling is 400W RMS.
Q: Can the 10TW3-D4 be mounted close to the back of the enclosure?
A: Yes. It has no pole vent, which permits mounting close to the rear wall of the enclosure, and it is designed for very small sealed enclosures.
