The Edge EDBX12D2-E3 is a 12 inch passive car subwoofer from the Edge DBX Series, rated at 1000W RMS (2000W peak) with dual 2 ohm impedance and a 2.5 inch voice coil.
It is a passive driver, so it needs a separate amplifier and enclosure. A suitable monoblock is the EDBX1800.1D-E4; for a ready-built powered option see the EDBX12ADSP-E3 active enclosure.

EDBX12D2-E3 DBX Series 12 inch subwoofer
The DBX Series features Edge's unique two-piece dust cap across the range, adding rigidity to the cone. The pressed steel torsion basket and double-stacked Y35 ferrite magnets deliver the correct level of motor force.
A 2.5 inch voice coil, non-pressed paper cone and high-roll foam surround work alongside the motor structure for efficient, accurate bass reproduction.
The DBX Series is designed to add the depth and bass missing from a standard car audio system, offering high performance at a competitive price.

Q: Do I need an amplifier for this subwoofer?
A: Yes, unless it is an active (powered) subwoofer with a built-in amplifier. Passive subwoofers need an external amplifier matched to the RMS power and impedance shown in the Specification tab.
Q: What size enclosure does this subwoofer need?
A: The recommended enclosure volume is listed in the Specification tab where the manufacturer provides it. As a rule, sealed enclosures give tighter, more accurate bass while ported enclosures deliver more output. Contact CEN if you would like a recommendation for your build.
Q: What does RMS power mean?
A: RMS is the continuous power a subwoofer can handle, and it is the number that matters when matching an amplifier. Peak or max figures describe short bursts only. Match your amplifier output to the RMS rating in the Specification tab.
Q: Sealed or ported enclosure - which should I choose?
A: Sealed boxes are compact and produce tight, controlled bass suited to sound quality builds. Ported boxes are larger and produce more output at low frequencies, suited to those who want maximum impact. Either works well when built to the recommended volume.
