R Series: The Next Evolution of Proven Performance
The 2nd-Gen R-Series subwoofers draw on decades of Alpine engineering experience. They deliver deep, clean, accurate bass using a larger motor structure for better woofer control and more authoritative output than the previous generation.
New Motor Structure
Larger, double-stacked magnets provide more motor force for deeper, tighter bass. An integrated Faraday ring minimises distortion, and a Kevlar-treated cone ensures reliable performance even at high volumes.
Next-Gen Sound Performance
Building on the Type R platform, Alpine's R-Series has long been known for high output and reliable performance. The 2nd-Gen models push that further with even greater bass output.
Additional Reliability
A polypropylene/ceramic composite dust cap adds rigidity, internal damping and heat resistance — keeping bass response tight and performance consistent during extended use.
Flexible Application
The dual voice coil (DVC) design includes easy configuration jumpers for flexible wiring options. An "EZ-Change" twist-lock grille mounting system lets you fit or remove an optional grille without screws. Pair this sub with an amplifier you can control on the fly using the Alpine RUX-KNOB2 remote bass level control, compatible with Alpine R-Series amplifiers.
Increased Accuracy
Alpine's High Amplitude Multi-Roll (HAMR) Surround technology allows 20mm of total cone excursion. The rubber surround lets the cone move air efficiently while managing heat, delivering accurate bass output at all listening levels.

Q: Do I need an amplifier for this subwoofer?
A: Yes, unless it is an active (powered) subwoofer with a built-in amplifier. Passive subwoofers need an external amplifier matched to the RMS power and impedance shown in the Specification tab.
Q: What size enclosure does this subwoofer need?
A: The recommended enclosure volume is listed in the Specification tab where the manufacturer provides it. As a rule, sealed enclosures give tighter, more accurate bass while ported enclosures deliver more output. Contact CEN if you would like a recommendation for your build.
Q: What does RMS power mean?
A: RMS is the continuous power a subwoofer can handle, and it is the number that matters when matching an amplifier. Peak or max figures describe short bursts only. Match your amplifier output to the RMS rating in the Specification tab.
Q: Sealed or ported enclosure - which should I choose?
A: Sealed boxes are compact and produce tight, controlled bass suited to sound quality builds. Ported boxes are larger and produce more output at low frequencies, suited to those who want maximum impact. Either works well when built to the recommended volume.
