About the PolarPro 67-PL-VND2/5

From our tech experts at CEN

A variable neutral density filter, 67mm, offering around 5 stops of adjustment, from the Peter McKinnon signature series.

Who it suits

Video shooters above all. A variable ND is what lets you hold a 180-degree shutter in changing light without stopping to swap filters, which is the difference between footage that looks cinematic and footage that looks like video.

Our tech experts advise

Variable NDs can cross-polarise at their extremes, so stay within the marked range rather than pushing to the stops. Check the thread size against your lens before ordering. get in touch for advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which filter do I need - ND, polariser or variable ND?

A: A polariser cuts glare and deepens colour. Fixed ND filters reduce light by a set amount for controlled shutter speeds. Variable NDs adjust across a range, making them the flexible choice for video. The filter type and strength are listed in the Specification tab.

Q: Will this filter fit my lens or drone?

A: Filters are made per thread size or per drone model. Check the size in the product title and Specification tab against your lens thread or drone model, or contact CEN to confirm.

Q: Why use an ND filter for video?

A: An ND filter lets you keep your shutter speed at roughly double your frame rate in bright light, which produces natural motion blur instead of a harsh, choppy look.

Q: Do filters degrade image quality?

A: Quality glass filters are designed to be optically neutral. Cheap filters can introduce colour casts and softness, which is why we stock cinema-grade brands with strong colour accuracy.

Q: Can I adjust the polariser separately from the ND?

A: Yes. The polariser is fully tunable and adjusts independently of the 2-5 stop variable ND, so you can control glare and reflections without changing your stop value.

Q: What size is this filter?

A: This is the 67mm version. Check that your lens filter thread is 67mm, which is usually marked on the lens barrel or inside the lens cap.

Q: What comes in the box?

A: The Chroma VND/PL filter, a Defender360 cover (front and rear) and a microfibre cloth.
