About the NOCO GBX55
From our tech experts at CEN
A lithium jump starter, rated at 1750A, small enough to live in the boot and start a car without another vehicle or a set of leads.
Who it suits
Anyone who has been stranded by a flat battery, and drivers of cars that sit for long periods — classics, second vehicles, campers and anything seasonal.
Our tech experts advise
Keep it charged: a jump starter that has sat in a cold boot for a year is no use when you need it. Check the rating suits your engine size, particularly for diesels, which need considerably more current than petrol engines of the same capacity. get in touch if you are unsure which model fits your vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will this jump starter work on my vehicle?
A: Jump starters are rated by engine size and fuel type. The maximum petrol and diesel engine capacities are listed in the Specification tab. Choose a unit rated at or above your engine size.
Q: Is a lithium jump starter safe to use?
A: Yes. Modern lithium jump starters include spark-proof connections and reverse polarity protection, making them safer and far more portable than traditional boosters.
Q: How long does the jump starter hold its charge?
A: Quality lithium jump starters hold a usable charge for months in the glovebox or boot. Topping up every few months keeps it ready, and charge time from flat is listed in the Specification tab.
Q: What size engine can the NOCO GBX55 start?
A: The GBX55 is rated for petrol engines up to 7.5 litres and diesel engines up to 5.0 litres, on 12V lead-acid batteries, with 1750A peak starting current.
Q: Can the GBX55 charge my phone or laptop?
A: Yes. Its USB-C Power Delivery port provides up to 60W in and out, enough for phones, tablets and many laptops, and there is also a USB-A output rated at 5V 2.1A.
Q: Why does the GBX55 have a 60-second window?
A: After you press the power button you have 60 seconds to start the vehicle. Once the timeout ends, the yellow power LED shows and the unit must be switched off and on again to start a new jump-start sequence. This conserves power.
