Morel MPS 2.150 Limited 150W 2-Channel Class A/B Full-Range Amplifier

The MPS Limited amplifiers were developed to mark Morel's 45th anniversary, aimed at audiophiles who prioritise fidelity and power.

HiFi Purity

All connections are gold plated, including chassis-mounted RCA sockets and robust power and speaker wire terminals. The signal path has been meticulously designed throughout, beginning with Burr-Brown OPA2134 op-amps, which give the MPS Limited a natural, detailed sonic character. Low-tolerance surface-mount components and WIMA metallised film capacitors preserve signal integrity through to the amplifier stage. Sanken bi-polar output transistors (MPS 2.150 only) were selected for their linear gain, high output and low distortion. Ultra-low ESR, high-voltage Rubicon capacitors in the power supply and output sections deliver the dynamics and resolution expected of a high-end amplifier.

Optimised for Thermal and Power Efficiency

The compact MPS Limited chassis was optimised using advanced computational analysis to handle the thermal demands of both amplifier topologies while sharing the same chassis dimensions. This keeps power output maximised and stable at any volume level.

Selectable Voltage Rail Power Supply

The MPS 2.150 Limited uses a unique selectable voltage rail design. Because Class A/B amplifiers run hotter than Class D equivalents, this feature lets you match power delivery to speaker impedance and keep the amplifier within its optimal thermal range. Select high-power mode beneath the amplifier for 150W x 2 into a 4 ohm load, or switch to high-current mode for 150W x 2 into 2 ohms. The result is an exceptionally stable platform that makes full use of the amplifier's power potential.

Stackable HiFi Car Amplifiers

The MPS Limited models are fitted with cast aluminium end caps with removable plates, enabling various mounting options including vertical stacking. The optional MPS-STKP stacking plates allow multiple amplifiers to be stacked to minimise floor space consumption. The chassis and stacking plates are designed to maintain maximum thermal efficiency throughout.

Installation Forward

All connections are kept to one side of the amplifier via a single-sided circuit layout, making installation straightforward and tidy. Preamp tuning controls sit under a removable panel on top of the amplifier, alongside auto turn-on selection via remote +12V, signal sensing or DC turn-off sensing.

Simple Elegance

The MPS Limited models are designed with a simple, considered aesthetic, representing a new direction in compact HiFi amplification. Pair this amplifier with Morel speakers — such as the Morel Maximo Ultra 602 MKII — to build a genuinely audiophile-grade car audio system.

Our tech experts advise

Matching matters more than headline watts, and the gains want setting with a meter rather than by ear. It also needs a fused feed from the battery on the correct cable gauge. Installation is priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year and we will confirm what it needs. See car audio installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I choose the right amplifier for my speakers or subwoofer?

A: Match the amplifier's RMS output per channel to the RMS handling of your speakers or subwoofer at the same impedance. The Specification tab lists the power figures. If in doubt, contact CEN with your setup and we will recommend a match.

Q: What wiring do I need to install this amplifier?

A: You will need an amplifier wiring kit sized to the amplifier's power draw, typically including power and earth cable, a fuse, RCA leads and a remote wire. CEN stocks complete wiring kits, and the amplifier's fuse rating is the guide to the cable gauge required.

Q: What class of amplifier is this and does it matter?

A: Class D amplifiers are compact and efficient, ideal for subwoofers and modern installs. Class AB designs are traditionally favoured for outright sound quality on mid and high frequencies. The class is listed in the Specification tab where provided.

Q: Will an amplifier work with my factory head unit?

A: Yes, in most cases. If your head unit has no RCA outputs you will need a line output converter to feed the amplifier a clean signal. CEN stocks line output converters and can advise the right one for your vehicle.

Q: Can CEN install this amplifier?

A: Yes. CEN offers professional amplifier installation from our Nottingham premises, including secure mounting, wiring and setup. Contact us to book.

Q: What is the selectable voltage rail on the Morel MPS 2.150?

A: A switch beneath the amplifier selects high-power mode, giving 150W x 2 into 4 ohms, or high-current mode, giving 150W x 2 into 2 ohms, keeping the Class A/B amplifier within its optimal thermal range.

Q: Can the MPS 2.150 be stacked with other amplifiers?

A: Yes. The optional MPS-STKP stacking plates allow MPS Limited amplifiers to be stacked vertically.

Q: What op-amps does the MPS 2.150 use?

A: It uses Burr-Brown OPA2134 op-amps, with Sanken bi-polar output transistors.
