About the Kicker 45KMF122
From our tech experts at CEN
The Kicker 45KMF122 is a 12-inch, 2 ohm single voice coil subwoofer from Kicker's KM Marine range, rated at 175w RMS. Designed for free-air use, it mounts directly into a boat deck, hatch or transom panel without an enclosure. The polymer basket, stainless steel hardware and Santoprene surround meet ASTM standards for UV and salt/fog resistance.
Who it suits
This suits boat owners who want to add deep bass without fitting a separate box. The free-air design works well on vessels where under-deck space is limited. For a matching marine source unit, consider the Kicker 46KMC5.
Our tech experts advise
The mounting cutout is 11 inches (280mm) and mounting depth is 5.5 inches (140mm), so check your boat's structure before ordering. At 2 ohms impedance, you will need an amplifier rated stable at 2 ohms. Stainless mounting hardware is included. Installation is priced per vessel — contact us to discuss your project.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need an amplifier to run these speakers?
A: Not always. Most speakers will run from a standard head unit, but a dedicated amplifier lets them perform at their best, particularly for component sets and higher power handling models. The RMS figure in the Specification tab is the guide to how much clean power they can use.
Q: What is the difference between coaxial and component speakers?
A: Coaxial speakers combine the tweeter and woofer in one unit for a simple like-for-like upgrade. Component sets separate the tweeter and woofer with a crossover for better imaging and detail, and suit installs where sound quality is the priority.
Q: Do these come as a pair?
A: Unless stated otherwise, car speakers are sold in pairs. Check the product title and What's Included tab, which lists exactly what is in the box.
Q: Can CEN fit these speakers for me?
A: Yes. CEN offers professional installation from our Nottingham premises. Contact us to book an installation slot or ask for a fitting quote.
Q: Are the Kicker MSC65 speakers waterproof?
A: They are IP66 certified and meet or exceed ASTM standards for UV and salt/fog exposure, with corrosion-resistant waterproof connectors and 316L stainless mounting hardware.
Q: Do the MSC65 speakers have lights?
A: Yes. Integrated RGBW LED lighting is standard, letting you choose from a wide range of colours.
Q: Which grille colours come with the Kicker 51MSC65?
A: Both white and charcoal grilles are included in the box.
