The HMX 8-C is a high-performance marine coaxial speaker optimised for infinite baffle installs, delivering solid bass and high output. The tweeter uses an acoustic lens tuned for best off-axis dispersion and maximum SPL, protected by a sound-transparent stainless steel mesh grille. The UV-resistant polypropylene cone is co-moulded with a Santoprene rubber surround, and the basket and grille are injected with a high-temperature, UV-resistant polymer — together resisting water, dust and mud. An aramid fibre spider with silicone-insulated lead wires ensures long-term durability, while a high-excursion motor assembly driven by a large magnetic group delivers clean, undistorted output.
Features
- Engineered and tested for real marine environments: UV, salt fog, vibration, water spray, thermal shock and dust.
- 1.4" neodymium magnet tweeter with PEI dome, faceplate and acoustic lens optimised for off-axis dispersion and highest SPL.
- Sound-transparent, tone-on-tone stainless steel tweeter mesh grille for efficient high-frequency transfer and solid protection.

About the Hertz HMX 8-C
From our tech experts at CEN
Marine-grade coaxial speakers handling 100w RMS, built with UV-stable materials and corrosion-resistant hardware for life in sun, salt and spray.
Who it suits
Boats, ribs and open builds, and campers with an outdoor listening area. Anything mounted where rain reaches it should be marine-rated, whatever the vehicle.
Our tech experts advise
In a marine install the wiring decides longevity: tinned cable, sealed joints and a properly fused feed. Mounting position affects the sound more than the speaker choice, because there are no cabin walls to help you. get in touch and we will talk through mounting, wiring and power for your boat.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What makes marine speakers different from car speakers?
A: Marine speakers are built with UV-stable, water-resistant cones, grilles and hardware designed for open-air and wet environments. They are the right choice for boats, jet skis, hot tubs and outdoor installs.
Q: Are these speakers fully waterproof?
A: Marine speakers are water-resistant to marine ratings rather than submersible. The IP rating, where provided, is listed in the Specification tab.
Q: Do I need a marine amplifier as well?
A: For best results, yes. Marine amplifiers carry conformal-coated boards that resist moisture and salt air. Match the amplifier to the RMS rating in the Specification tab as you would with any system.
Q: Will these work outside of marine use?
A: Yes. Marine speakers are popular for motorcycles, quads, hot tubs, garden bars and anywhere the weather reaches. Their durability makes them a strong outdoor choice.
Q: What mounting depth does the HMX 8-C need?
A: The mounting depth is 123 mm (4.84 in) and the speaker measures 224 mm (8.8 in) across.
Q: How much power can the HMX 8-C handle?
A: It is rated at 100 W continuous and 200 W peak at 4 ohms.
Q: Is the HMX 8-C suitable for infinite baffle mounting?
A: Yes. The woofer is fine-tuned for infinite baffle applications.
