Hertz Marine HMX 6.5
The HMX 6.5 is optimised for infinite baffle use, delivering solid bass and high output. The 1.4 inch neodymium tweeter uses a PEI dome with an acoustic lens for strong off-axis dispersion and maximum SPL. The stainless steel tweeter mesh grille offers efficient high-frequency transfer and robust protection. The UV-resistant polypropylene cone is co-moulded with a Santoprene rubber surround, and the basket and grille are injected with a high-temperature, UV-resistant polymer — together resisting water, dust and mud. An aramid fibre spider with silicone-insulated lead wires ensures long-term durability and consistent performance. The high-excursion mobile equipment is driven by a large magnetic group for high, undistorted sound pressure.

About the Hertz HMX 6.5
From our tech experts at CEN
Marine-grade coaxial speakers handling 75w RMS, built with UV-stable materials and corrosion-resistant hardware for life in sun, salt and spray.
Who it suits
Boats, ribs and open builds, and campers with an outdoor listening area. Anything mounted where rain reaches it should be marine-rated, whatever the vehicle.
Our tech experts advise
In a marine install the wiring decides longevity: tinned cable, sealed joints and a properly fused feed. Mounting position affects the sound more than the speaker choice, because there are no cabin walls to help you. get in touch and we will talk through mounting, wiring and power for your boat.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What makes marine speakers different from car speakers?
A: Marine speakers are built with UV-stable, water-resistant cones, grilles and hardware designed for open-air and wet environments. They are the right choice for boats, jet skis, hot tubs and outdoor installs.
Q: Are these speakers fully waterproof?
A: Marine speakers are water-resistant to marine ratings rather than submersible. The IP rating, where provided, is listed in the Specification tab.
Q: Do I need a marine amplifier as well?
A: For best results, yes. Marine amplifiers carry conformal-coated boards that resist moisture and salt air. Match the amplifier to the RMS rating in the Specification tab as you would with any system.
Q: Will these work outside of marine use?
A: Yes. Marine speakers are popular for motorcycles, quads, hot tubs, garden bars and anywhere the weather reaches. Their durability makes them a strong outdoor choice.
Q: What size is the HMX 6.5?
A: The HMX 6.5 is a 6.5 inch (165 mm) coaxial speaker with a mounting depth of 95.6 mm (3.76 in).
Q: How much power can the HMX 6.5 handle?
A: It is rated at 75W continuous and 150W peak power handling, with a 4 ohm impedance.
Q: Does the HMX 6.5 have a built-in crossover?
A: Yes. It has a sealed built-in crossover with a resettable solid-state tweeter protection circuit.
