Helix

About the Helix HA11809

From our tech experts at CEN

The Helix V Eighteen DSP is an 18-channel Pure Class GD amplifier with a 64-bit DSP built in. Channels 1 to 12 deliver 70 W RMS at 4 ohms and channels 13 to 18 deliver 75 W, rising to 120 W at 2 ohms, all from a 44 x 255 x 220 mm housing.

Who it suits

Large multichannel builds and premium factory systems where every speaker needs its own amplified and processed channel. It accepts 18 high-level inputs, six RCA inputs and an optical input. For a smaller system, the V Twelve DSP MK2 covers 12 amplified channels.

Our tech experts advise

Four speaker connection cables are supplied. Use channels 13 to 18 for the drivers that need the most power, such as midbass woofers on 2 ohm loads. Planning channel allocation before the install saves time later. Installation and tuning are priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I choose the right amplifier for my speakers or subwoofer?

A: Match the amplifier's RMS output per channel to the RMS handling of your speakers or subwoofer at the same impedance. The Specification tab lists the power figures. If in doubt, contact CEN with your setup and we will recommend a match.

Q: What wiring do I need to install this amplifier?

A: You will need an amplifier wiring kit sized to the amplifier's power draw, typically including power and earth cable, a fuse, RCA leads and a remote wire. CEN stocks complete wiring kits, and the amplifier's fuse rating is the guide to the cable gauge required.

Q: What class of amplifier is this and does it matter?

A: Class D amplifiers are compact and efficient, ideal for subwoofers and modern installs. Class AB designs are traditionally favoured for outright sound quality on mid and high frequencies. The class is listed in the Specification tab where provided.

Q: Will an amplifier work with my factory head unit?

A: Yes, in most cases. If your head unit has no RCA outputs you will need a line output converter to feed the amplifier a clean signal. CEN stocks line output converters and can advise the right one for your vehicle.

Q: Can CEN install this amplifier?

A: Yes. CEN offers professional amplifier installation from our Nottingham premises, including secure mounting, wiring and setup. Contact us to book.

Q: How much power does the HELIX V EIGHTEEN DSP deliver per channel?

A: At 4 ohms, channels 1 to 12 deliver 70W RMS each and channels 13 to 18 deliver 75W RMS each. At 2 ohms, channels 13 to 18 deliver 120W RMS each. Maximum output is up to 100W RMS at 3 ohms on channels 1 to 12 and up to 160W RMS at 2 ohms on channels 13 to 18.

Q: Can the V EIGHTEEN DSP connect to a factory head unit?

A: Yes. It has 18 high-level speaker inputs for connecting to a factory radio or amplifier, plus 6 RCA inputs and an optical SPDIF input for digital sources.

Q: What comes in the box with the HELIX V EIGHTEEN DSP?

A: The amplifier, 4 speaker connection cables, a USB cable, 2 Allen keys, mounting material and the instruction manual.
