The New 2023 S-Series Subwoofers

Alpine's redesigned next-generation S-Series subwoofers bring technology from higher-end models to deliver depth and punch at a budget-friendly price. The S2-W10D2 handles up to 600W RMS, so you can drive it hard. The cone combines carbon fibre and polypropylene for light weight and rigidity, while the rubber High Amplitude Multi-Roll (HAMR) surround enables maximum excursion. Configuration jumpers make wiring changes straightforward, and the sub works equally well in sealed or ported enclosures — tight and precise or big and boomy, your choice.

Performance & Value

With 600W RMS and 1800W peak power handling, a frequency response of 25Hz–215Hz and sensitivity of 84.9dB (SPL@1W/1m), the S2-W10D2 delivers strong, accurate bass across a wide range of music genres.

HAMR Surround

Alpine's High Amplitude Multi-Roll (H.A.M.R.) surround technology uses a rubber surround to let the cone move air efficiently while staying cool. It provides 15mm of one-way excursion for accurate, controlled bass output.

Enhanced Punch

The lightweight carbon fibre and polypropylene cone delivers deep, low-distortion bass, adding richness and detail to your music.

Flexible Application

Dual voice coils (DVC) with easy configuration jumpers simplify installation. A twist-lock grille mounting system lets you fit or remove an optional grille without mounting screws.

Perfect Power Match

The S2-W10D2 pairs neatly with Alpine's power-matched S-Series amplifiers. Run a single sub with the 600W S2-A60M mono amp, or pair two or more with the 1200W S2-A120M for greater output. Add an Alpine RUX-KNOB2 remote bass level control for convenient in-cabin level adjustment.

Sizes & Variations

The S-Series subwoofer range is available in 8", 10" and 12" sizes and in dual 2Ω and dual 4Ω impedances.

Made for S-Series Amps & Subs

S-Series components are designed to work together as a complete system, suited to listeners who want great sound without overspending, including Hi-Res Audio capability.

About the Alpine S2-W10D2

From our tech experts at CEN

A 0 inch subwoofer, with dual 2 ohm voice coils so it can be wired to suit your amplifier, handling 600w RMS.

Who it suits

Drivers building a system where the bass does real work rather than filling in. This suits a sealed or ported enclosure sized to the driver, in a boot or a custom build.

Our tech experts advise

A subwoofer is only as good as its enclosure and the amplifier driving it: box volume and amplifier matching decide what you hear, and dual voice coils give you options for how it is wired. We build enclosures and match amplification at our Beeston workshop. Installation is priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year and we will confirm what it needs and what the work involves. See car audio installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need an amplifier for this subwoofer?

A: Yes, unless it is an active (powered) subwoofer with a built-in amplifier. Passive subwoofers need an external amplifier matched to the RMS power and impedance shown in the Specification tab.

Q: What size enclosure does this subwoofer need?

A: The recommended enclosure volume is listed in the Specification tab where the manufacturer provides it. As a rule, sealed enclosures give tighter, more accurate bass while ported enclosures deliver more output. Contact CEN if you would like a recommendation for your build.

Q: What does RMS power mean?

A: RMS is the continuous power a subwoofer can handle, and it is the number that matters when matching an amplifier. Peak or max figures describe short bursts only. Match your amplifier output to the RMS rating in the Specification tab.

Q: Sealed or ported enclosure - which should I choose?

A: Sealed boxes are compact and produce tight, controlled bass suited to sound quality builds. Ported boxes are larger and produce more output at low frequencies, suited to those who want maximum impact. Either works well when built to the recommended volume.

Q: Can CEN build or supply an enclosure and fit everything?

A: Yes. CEN supplies enclosures and offers professional installation from our Nottingham premises, including amplifier wiring. Contact us to discuss your build.

Q: How much power does the Alpine S2-W10D2 handle?

A: It is rated at 600W RMS and 1800W peak, with dual 2 ohm voice coils. Alpine pairs one with the 600W S2-A60M mono amplifier, or two or more with the 1200W S2-A120M.

Q: What box size does the S2-W10D2 need?

A: Alpine specifies a sealed box volume of 12.7-25.5 litres or a ported box volume of 22.6-38 litres.

Q: Does the S2-W10D2 come with a grille?

A: No. The box contains the 10-inch dual 2 ohm subwoofer and a trim ring. The twist-lock mounting system accepts an optional grille.
