VIBE British Audio introduces the 2020 POWERBOX amplifier range.
Building on the success of the Powerbox Micro amplifiers, VIBE introduced the more powerful and evolved Powerbox Mini range of four channel amplifiers. Taking everything that was already great about the Micro amplifiers, VIBE's engineers pushed the small footprint platform to the next level.
Deltabox connectivity
The Powerbox Mini amplifiers have input options to ensure that any system can be connected to these amps. The high quality RCA inputs offer 0.5V to 6V input voltage alongside a Deltabox high level input circuit, which gives auto-sense remote turn-on for use with factory systems. This eliminates the need for a separate line level converter and accepts an input voltage of up to 35V.
The Deltabox high level input circuit allows the amp to use a DC offset auto-sense turn-on feature, so no remote turn-on wire is required when using this installation method. The DC offset method offers a more stable and reliable turn-on than traditional signal sensing.
OPTISOUND advanced OEM integration
VIBE R&D partnered with leading amplifier designers in the car audio world to ensure these amplifiers integrate with the most modern vehicles. The amps feature technology that stops the auto-detection problems and OEM error messages that can be displayed when installing common amps into modern vehicles. The technology stops the vehicle sensing changes in resistance, so there are no installation issues such as speakers cutting out or the fader disappearing. Powerbox amps are well suited to OEM installation, and the OPTISOUND range has become a go-to upgrade for many dealers when forced to retain the factory head unit.
VIBE Sound Studio active crossovers
High and low pass filters with a natural 12dB slope allow the 4 channels of amplification to run passive and active systems safely. The amp also features a 10Hz to 30kHz bandwidth when used in FULL RANGE mode, allowing you to take full advantage of even the highest ranging tweeters. This delivers suitable amplification for high bit rate sound reproduction and makes the VIBE POWERBOX range a great choice for demanding sound quality systems. The VIBE Sound Studio active crossover networks are a simple and easy way to run speakers fully active without the need for complex crossovers.

About the Vibe POWERBOX80.4M
From our tech experts at CEN
A 4-channel amplifier from Vibe’s Powerbox range, Class D, in a compact chassis small enough to hide under a seat.
Who it suits
Drivers whose speakers have outgrown the head unit. Micro amplifiers suit vans, campers and modern cars where there is nowhere to put a full-size chassis. Powerbox is Vibe’s long-running amplifier line, known for compact chassis.
Our tech experts advise
Matching matters more than headline watts, and gains want setting with a meter rather than by ear. It needs a fused feed from the battery on the correct cable gauge. Installation is priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year and we will confirm what it needs. See car audio installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I choose the right amplifier for my speakers or subwoofer?
A: Match the amplifier's RMS output per channel to the RMS handling of your speakers or subwoofer at the same impedance. The Specification tab lists the power figures. If in doubt, contact CEN with your setup and we will recommend a match.
Q: What wiring do I need to install this amplifier?
A: You will need an amplifier wiring kit sized to the amplifier's power draw, typically including power and earth cable, a fuse, RCA leads and a remote wire. CEN stocks complete wiring kits, and the amplifier's fuse rating is the guide to the cable gauge required.
Q: What class of amplifier is this and does it matter?
A: Class D amplifiers are compact and efficient, ideal for subwoofers and modern installs. Class AB designs are traditionally favoured for outright sound quality on mid and high frequencies. The class is listed in the Specification tab where provided.
Q: Will an amplifier work with my factory head unit?
A: Yes, in most cases. If your head unit has no RCA outputs you will need a line output converter to feed the amplifier a clean signal. CEN stocks line output converters and can advise the right one for your vehicle.
Q: Can CEN install this amplifier?
A: Yes. CEN offers professional amplifier installation from our Nottingham premises, including secure mounting, wiring and setup. Contact us to book.
Q: Will the VIBE Powerbox 80.4M work with my factory radio?
A: Yes. It has a Deltabox high level input that accepts up to 35V with DC offset auto-sense turn-on, so it can be connected to a factory head unit without a separate line level converter or remote turn-on wire. OPTISOUND technology is designed to prevent OEM error messages in modern vehicles.
Q: How much power does the Powerbox 80.4M deliver?
A: It delivers 4 x 80W RMS at 4 ohms, 4 x 100W RMS at 2 ohms, or 2 x 240W bridged at 4 ohms, with 960W maximum power.
Q: Can the Powerbox 80.4M run speakers active?
A: Yes. Its VIBE Sound Studio high and low pass filters (12dB slope) allow the four channels to run passive or active speaker systems.
