The Shanling EC Mini is a battery-powered transportable CD player and hi-res digital audio player (DAP) featuring dual ESS ES9219 DACs, balanced 4.4mm and 3.5mm headphone outputs, RCA line out, and two-way Bluetooth. Transportable CD Player & DAP
Shanling have fully embraced their classic hi-fi heritage and launched an interesting range of CD players over recent years. The EC Mini is their first transportable, multifunctional CD player powered by batteries.
Built for desk, home, garden and car
The EC Mini works well as a desktop device — compact enough for cluttered office desks or small bedside tables. Its fully independent battery power makes it easy to move between rooms, take to a coffee shop or garden, or use on the go.
The EC Mini needs only a standard USB output for charging, making it a practical fit for modern cars. You can connect it directly to a stereo system via its RCA outputs or pair it with a car system over Bluetooth. A dedicated In-Vehicle mode lets the EC Mini detect when the car starts, triggering automatic power on/off for smooth playback on every journey.
More than a CD player
Local playback is supported from microSD card and USB drives, with the touch screen allowing full navigation through your music library on the device itself. The SyncLink feature enables remote control directly from your phone or tablet.
Bluetooth works in both transmit and receive modes. You can play CDs wirelessly into Bluetooth headphones, or use the receiver function to turn the EC Mini into a hi-fi quality Bluetooth DAC/amp for wireless playback from your phone. The EC Mini can also function as a USB DAC for playback over a USB connection.
Audio circuit and CD system
Playback is based on Shanling's M3 Ultra DAP platform, using dual ESS ES9219 DACs supported by a pair of Ricore RT6863 headphone amplifiers. This delivers a fully balanced audio circuit with a 4.4mm balanced output alongside the standard 3.5mm jack, putting out up to 240mW @ 32Ω balanced.
The CD system uses a Philips CD drive with a Sanyo HD860 laser for accurate CD and MQA-CD reading. Extra mechanical and electronic anti-vibration systems help prevent interruptions during playback on the move.
