Shanling SM1.3R Streamer with R2R DAC

The SM1.3R uses the second generation of Shanling's in-house DAC platform, first introduced in the Shanling SCD3.3 SACD player. The R2R assembly uses 212 ultra-precise 0.01% resistors in a 24-bit module, with a 19-bit architecture, 4-bit compensating code and an assistive push-pull differential circuit. The result is a smooth, natural R2R sound with high-fidelity precision.

Dual 31W Transformers and Split Power Supply

The SM1.3R uses a dual 31W transformer split power supply that separates the streaming and audio sections entirely. This keeps digital and analogue stages isolated, reducing unwanted interference for cleaner, more stable performance.

Hi-Res PCM and DSD Support with Dedicated ACCUSILICON Clocks

Dedicated ACCUSILICON 45.1584MHz and 49.152MHz clocks improve timing accuracy and decoding performance. Combined with Shanling's AGLO system for bit-perfect Android playback, the SM1.3R supports Hi-Res audio up to 32-bit/768kHz PCM and DSD512 via both the system and XMOS USB input.

Dedicated Analogue Output Stages

Separate output stages handle line-level and headphone listening independently. MUSES8920 op-amps provide the line-out signal for external amplifiers or powered speakers, while the TPA6120 headphone amplifier delivers powerful, detailed direct headphone output.

Modern Streaming Platform

The SM1.3R runs a 64-bit ARM Cortex processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The closed Android-based platform is stable and responsive for everyday streaming use.

Shanling's updated interface provides quick access to playback controls, settings and music libraries. The main menu gives immediate access to local libraries and streaming services, with customisation options to suit your preferences. The interface is fully unified with the Eddict Controller companion app for seamless switching between on-device and remote smartphone control.

Streaming services accessible directly on the touchscreen include Spotify, TIDAL, Qobuz, Apple Music, Apple Music Classical, Amazon Music, Presto Music and KKBOX. TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect and Roon Ready ensure straightforward integration, with DLNA and AirPlay 2 for wireless playback from compatible devices.

Design and Build

Inspired by Shanling's SACD and CD player designs, the SM1.3R uses an aluminium chassis with a glass top panel, softly rounded edges and a 5.8-inch 1080P touchscreen display.

Eddict Controller App and Screen Mirroring

The Eddict Controller app provides remote control of local playback. Full wireless screen mirroring allows complete operation of streaming applications from a mobile device.

Connectivity

The SM1.3R includes an integrated M.2 SSD slot for large local music libraries and an FPGA-assisted I2S output for use as an I2S transport. It is designed as a complete digital and analogue hub for a modern Hi-Fi system.
