Cabin View Camera: protecting the driver inside and out, ideal for taxi or private hire vehicles

The Cabin View Camera records both inside the car and through the side windows, capturing passengers and vehicles alongside you. The 140° wide-angle lens provides an extra level of security for driver and passengers alike, making it particularly well suited to taxi and private hire use. Installation is straightforward — simply click the module into the side of your compatible Nextbase dash cam. Dash cams also double as a car security camera when parked, day or night.

Resolution

When a camera module is connected, the front dash cam automatically adjusts its resolution to manage two simultaneous high-resolution video files.

Module connectivity

The Cabin View Camera connects directly to the dash cam with no additional wiring, recording a separate cabin-view feed alongside your forward-facing footage.

About the Nextbase NBDVRS2RFCW

From our tech experts at CEN

A Nextbase dash cam.

Who it suits

Drivers who want evidence if something happens, which in practice means anyone who drives for work, carries passengers or parks on the street. Nextbase is the name most UK drivers recognise, and its national footage submission portal is genuinely useful when reporting an incident.

Our tech experts advise

Hardwire it if you want parking mode, because the 12V socket dies with the ignition, and use a high-endurance memory card since ordinary cards fail under constant rewriting. We fit dash cams from £60 at our Beeston workshop. See dash cam installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What SD card do I need for this dash cam?

A: Use a high-endurance microSD card designed for continuous recording. Standard cards wear out quickly in dash cams. CEN stocks suitable high-endurance cards, and the maximum supported capacity is listed in the Specification tab.

Q: Do I need to hardwire the dash cam?

A: Not necessarily. All dash cams work from the 12V socket for drive recording. Hardwiring hides the cabling and enables parking mode, and CEN offers professional hardwire installation from our Nottingham premises.

Q: Will the footage be accepted by my insurer or the police?

A: Dash cam footage is widely used in insurance claims and can be submitted to most UK police forces through their online portals. Recording quality matters, so check the resolution in the Specification tab.

Q: Front only or front and rear - which should I choose?

A: A front camera covers the most common claim scenarios. A two-channel system adds rear coverage for rear-end collisions and tailgating evidence, which is where many disputed claims arise. Three-channel systems add an interior view, suited to taxi and fleet use.

Q: What does the Nextbase Cabin View Camera record?

A: It uses a 140° wide-angle lens to record inside the car and through the side windows, capturing passengers as well as vehicles beside you.

Q: Which dash cams does the Cabin View Camera work with?

A: The Nextbase 322GW, 422GW, 522GW and 622GW. It clicks into the side of the front dash cam.

Q: What resolution do I get with the Cabin View Camera fitted?

A: With the 622GW, front 4K and cabin 1080p. With the 422GW or 522GW, front 1080p and cabin 1080p, or front 1440p and cabin 720p. With the 322GW, front 1080p and cabin 720p.
