About the Kicker 51PTRTP10
From our tech experts at CEN
A 10 inch subwoofer supplied in its enclosure, handling 400w RMS, so box volume and tuning are already matched to the driver rather than left for you to work out.
Who it suits
Drivers who want bass without commissioning a custom build. A loaded enclosure is the quickest route to a result that works, because most disappointing subwoofer installs come down to the wrong box rather than the wrong driver.
Our tech experts advise
It still needs an amplifier matched to it and a fused power feed from the battery. How the box is secured matters too: an unrestrained enclosure is dangerous in an accident. Installation is priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year and we will confirm what it needs. See car audio installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need an amplifier for this subwoofer?
A: Yes, unless it is an active (powered) subwoofer with a built-in amplifier. Passive subwoofers need an external amplifier matched to the RMS power and impedance shown in the Specification tab.
Q: What size enclosure does this subwoofer need?
A: The recommended enclosure volume is listed in the Specification tab where the manufacturer provides it. As a rule, sealed enclosures give tighter, more accurate bass while ported enclosures deliver more output. Contact CEN if you would like a recommendation for your build.
Q: What does RMS power mean?
A: RMS is the continuous power a subwoofer can handle, and it is the number that matters when matching an amplifier. Peak or max figures describe short bursts only. Match your amplifier output to the RMS rating in the Specification tab.
Q: Sealed or ported enclosure - which should I choose?
A: Sealed boxes are compact and produce tight, controlled bass suited to sound quality builds. Ported boxes are larger and produce more output at low frequencies, suited to those who want maximum impact. Either works well when built to the recommended volume.
Q: Can CEN build or supply an enclosure and fit everything?
A: Yes. CEN supplies enclosures and offers professional installation from our Nottingham premises, including amplifier wiring. Contact us to discuss your build.
Q: Does the Kicker 51PTRTP10 work with a factory stereo?
A: Yes. It accepts high-level speaker inputs from 1V to 40V as well as low-level inputs from 125mV to 5V, so it integrates easily with a factory system.
Q: Is there a 12-inch version of the Kicker 51PTRTP10?
A: Yes. The PTRTP comes in two models: this 10-inch version with a 400W amplifier, and the 51PTRTP12 with a 12-inch sub and a 500W amplifier.
Q: How big is the Kicker 51PTRTP10?
A: The enclosure is 15.2cm high, 33.5cm deep and 65cm wide, with a compact, factory-tuned design for tight locations.
