46CXA400.1 Mono Amplifier
CX Series amps use an optimised circuit layout and high-grade internal components to reach high power levels. Efficient heat sinks keep temperatures down. The optional 46CXARC remote bass control lets you adjust bass level from the dash.
Power Pack
The CXA400.1 is 1-ohm stable, giving more power and wiring flexibility. Class D efficiency keeps things compact. KickEQ delivers up to 6 dB of variable bass boost. The 12 dB low-pass crossover and 24 dB subsonic filter let you tune quickly. Full-range RCA pass-through outputs allow system expansion with additional amplifiers.
The amp accepts up to 40 V (400W) of speaker-level input, removing the need for a line-out converter while maintaining sound quality.
Mounting hardware for both standard and vertical installation is included.

About the Kicker 46CXA4001
From our tech experts at CEN
A monoblock amplifier for subwoofer duty, rated at 400w RMS. Everything it makes goes to the bass.
Who it suits
Anyone adding a subwoofer that needs real power behind it rather than a compact powered unit.
Our tech experts advise
Published power figures mean little until the amplifier is matched to the speakers and the gains are set with a meter rather than by ear. It needs a fused feed from the battery on the correct cable gauge, the part we most often see done badly. Installation is priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year and we will confirm what it needs. See car audio installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I choose the right amplifier for my speakers or subwoofer?
A: Match the amplifier's RMS output per channel to the RMS handling of your speakers or subwoofer at the same impedance. The Specification tab lists the power figures. If in doubt, contact CEN with your setup and we will recommend a match.
Q: What wiring do I need to install this amplifier?
A: You will need an amplifier wiring kit sized to the amplifier's power draw, typically including power and earth cable, a fuse, RCA leads and a remote wire. CEN stocks complete wiring kits, and the amplifier's fuse rating is the guide to the cable gauge required.
Q: What class of amplifier is this and does it matter?
A: Class D amplifiers are compact and efficient, ideal for subwoofers and modern installs. Class AB designs are traditionally favoured for outright sound quality on mid and high frequencies. The class is listed in the Specification tab where provided.
Q: Will an amplifier work with my factory head unit?
A: Yes, in most cases. If your head unit has no RCA outputs you will need a line output converter to feed the amplifier a clean signal. CEN stocks line output converters and can advise the right one for your vehicle.
Q: Can CEN install this amplifier?
A: Yes. CEN offers professional amplifier installation from our Nottingham premises, including secure mounting, wiring and setup. Contact us to book.
Q: Is the 46CXA400.1 stable at 1 ohm?
A: Yes. The 46CXA400.1 is one-ohm stable and delivers 400W RMS at 1 ohm, 300W at 2 ohms and 150W at 4 ohms.
Q: Can I control the bass level of the 46CXA400.1 from the dashboard?
A: Yes, with the optional Kicker CXARC remote bass control (sold separately), which also adjusts the KickEQ bass boost.
Q: Will the 46CXA400.1 work with a factory radio?
A: Yes. It accepts speaker-level input signals of up to 40 volts, so a line output converter is not normally needed.
