- 3 turn-on options: +12V remote wire, signal sensing or DC offset
- Onboard LED clipping indicator simplifies level setting
- Signal routing flexibility with selectable input mode and type
Efficient Class D design
JL Audio's NexD™ switching technology uses enhanced pulse width modulation to extend bandwidth, minimise distortion and improve efficiency — keeping the amplifier compact, cool and powerful.
Clean, powerful, reliable
The RD800/6 outputs 800W total power: four channels at 100W each into a 2-ohm load, plus two channels at 200W each into a 2-ohm load (14.4V, 1% THD). All RD Series channel pairs are bridgeable for maximum application flexibility, allowing the amp to power a full speaker system with subwoofer or an active 3-way front stage.
Signal processing
Each channel pair has 12 dB/octave filters. Channels 1 and 2 offer high-pass filtering variable from 50 Hz to 5 kHz. Channels 3–4 and 5–6 each offer high-pass or bandpass filtering, continuously variable from 50–500 Hz. The 6-channel configuration supports triple high-pass filters or full 3-way crossover capability.
LED clipping indicators
LED clipping indicators on the control panel let you set each channel pair's input sensitivity quickly, without additional test equipment.
Easy connectivity
Input type switches on the stereo channel sections allow the RD800/6 to bridge stereo output channels without the need for Y-adapters.

About the JL Audio RD800/6
From our tech experts at CEN
A 6-channel amplifier from JL Audio’s RD Series, rated at 800w RMS.
Who it suits
Drivers whose speakers have outgrown the head unit, or who are building a front stage where each channel has a defined job. RD Series is the workhorse: efficient Class D with enough power for most builds.
Our tech experts advise
Matching the amplifier to the speakers matters more than headline watts, and the gains want setting with a meter rather than by ear. It also needs a fused feed from the battery on the correct cable gauge. Installation is priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year and we will confirm what it needs. See car audio installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I choose the right amplifier for my speakers or subwoofer?
A: Match the amplifier's RMS output per channel to the RMS handling of your speakers or subwoofer at the same impedance. The Specification tab lists the power figures. If in doubt, contact CEN with your setup and we will recommend a match.
Q: What wiring do I need to install this amplifier?
A: You will need an amplifier wiring kit sized to the amplifier's power draw, typically including power and earth cable, a fuse, RCA leads and a remote wire. CEN stocks complete wiring kits, and the amplifier's fuse rating is the guide to the cable gauge required.
Q: What class of amplifier is this and does it matter?
A: Class D amplifiers are compact and efficient, ideal for subwoofers and modern installs. Class AB designs are traditionally favoured for outright sound quality on mid and high frequencies. The class is listed in the Specification tab where provided.
Q: Will an amplifier work with my factory head unit?
A: Yes, in most cases. If your head unit has no RCA outputs you will need a line output converter to feed the amplifier a clean signal. CEN stocks line output converters and can advise the right one for your vehicle.
Q: Can CEN install this amplifier?
A: Yes. CEN offers professional amplifier installation from our Nottingham premises, including secure mounting, wiring and setup. Contact us to book.
Q: Can the JL Audio RD800/6 power a subwoofer?
A: Yes. Channels 5 and 6 deliver 200W RMS x 2 at 2 ohms, or can be bridged for 400W RMS x 1 at 4 ohms to drive a subwoofer.
Q: Can the RD800/6 run an active 3-way system?
A: Yes. The 6-channel model offers triple high-pass filters or full 3-way crossover capability, and all channel pairs are bridgeable.
Q: Do I need Y-adapters to bridge the RD800/6?
A: No. Input type switches on the stereo channel sections remove the need for Y-adapters when bridging stereo output channels.
