The JL Audio C6-653 is a 6.5" (165 mm) three-way component speaker system built around the same engineering principles as JL Audio's flagship designs. The system includes 6.5" mineral-filled polypropylene woofers, dedicated 2.75" midrange drivers and 1" silk dome tweeters, each optimised for a specific frequency range. The tweeters deliver smooth, detailed high-frequency reproduction with strong off-axis response, while the midrange drivers handle accurate vocal and instrument reproduction.
Premium external passive crossover networks are included, built with polyester film capacitors and air-core inductors. Four tweeter and four midrange level adjustments let installers tune the system to the vehicle's acoustics and speaker placement.
With 100W RMS power handling, a recommended amplifier range of 25–150W per channel and a frequency response of approximately 53 Hz – 21 kHz, the C6-653 is well suited to a quality amplified install.
DMA-optimised woofers
Proprietary motor, suspension and cone modelling reduces distortion and improves transient performance. The woofer's centre cap is shaped to optimise high-frequency response for a seamless transition to the tweeter. Cast-alloy frames incorporate JL Audio's Elevated Frame Cooling technology, and the oversized voice coil extends power handling while minimising thermal compression at higher volumes.
Silk dome tweeters
The edge-driven pure silk dome tweeter produces detailed highs with excellent off-axis response and damping. An automatic solid-state tweeter protection circuit reduces the risk of tweeter failure.
Passive crossover networks
Each C6-653 set includes premium passive crossover networks with four levels of tweeter adjustment and four levels of midrange adjustment. Components include polyester film and electrolytic capacitors and low-loss air-core inductors, all housed beneath a protective polycarbonate cover.
