HD750/1 Monoblock Class D Wide-Range Amplifier, 750W x 1 @ 1.5–4 Ω

This ultra-compact monoblock uses JL Audio's Single-Cycle Control switching design and R.I.P.S. technology to deliver 750W of clean power into any impedance between 1.5 and 4 Ω. Tight power supply regulation keeps distortion low and maximises bass quality. Although primarily aimed at subwoofer use, the HD750/1 is a wide-range amplifier and can also drive high-performance mid-range speaker systems.

The amplifier features a brushed aluminium finish with black powder-coated cast alloy heat sinks and bottom panel. A black powder-coated, gasketed cover is included to protect the controls.

For front speakers, the HD600/4 is designed as its partner amplifier. The optional HD-RLC remote is compatible with all HD Series amplifiers.

R.I.P.S. – Regulated, Intelligent Power Supply

R.I.P.S. (Regulated, Intelligent Power Supply) is a core feature of JL Audio's HD and 'Slash' series amplifiers. It ensures consistent power delivery across a wide range of battery voltages and load impedances.

Regulated: The power supply adjusts its operation to maintain rated output and low distortion across vehicle voltages from 11V to 14.5V. Conventional unregulated supplies allow rail voltages to sag with drops in supply voltage, causing power loss and increased distortion. With R.I.P.S., rail voltage and clean power output remain stable in real-world conditions.

Intelligent: A monitoring circuit tracks output current and optimises output power across load impedances from 1.5 to 4 ohm per channel. Conventional amplifiers are tuned for a specific impedance and lose power when driven above it — R.I.P.S. detects the actual impedance and adjusts automatically. The result is consistent power output across a wide range of subwoofer configurations, without relying on potentially inaccurate rated impedance figures.

The bottom line: optimum power at any impedance between 1.5 and 4 ohm per channel, at any vehicle voltage between 11V and 14.5V.

Advanced Rollback Protection

JL Audio's Advanced Rollback Protection monitors the amplifier's thermal condition and prevents unwanted shut-down events. If the amplifier reaches an unsafe operating temperature, the circuit rolls back peak power output — without changing gain — until it cools to a safe level. This is indicated by a red "Thermal" or "Status" LED. Once the amplifier cools, full peak power is restored and the indicator returns to its normal state. In most cases the process is inaudible, keeping music playing even under demanding conditions.

RealSink™

RealSink™ heat sinks use real cast-alloy fins with a vertical orientation, harnessing convection and radiation to dissipate heat without fan cooling. The design was refined through extensive finite-element analysis to keep the amplifier cool under demanding use.

About the JL Audio HD750/1

From our tech experts at CEN

A monoblock subwoofer amplifier from JL Audio’s HD Series, rated at 750w RMS.

Who it suits

Anyone driving a subwoofer that needs real, controlled power rather than a compact powered unit. HD Series packs high power into a chassis small enough to hide, which is why it ends up in so many tidy installs.

Our tech experts advise

Matching the amplifier to the speakers matters more than headline watts, and the gains want setting with a meter rather than by ear. It also needs a fused feed from the battery on the correct cable gauge. Installation is priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year and we will confirm what it needs. Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I choose the right amplifier for my speakers or subwoofer?

A: Match the amplifier's RMS output per channel to the RMS handling of your speakers or subwoofer at the same impedance. The Specification tab lists the power figures. If in doubt, contact CEN with your setup and we will recommend a match.

Q: What wiring do I need to install this amplifier?

A: You will need an amplifier wiring kit sized to the amplifier's power draw, typically including power and earth cable, a fuse, RCA leads and a remote wire. CEN stocks complete wiring kits, and the amplifier's fuse rating is the guide to the cable gauge required.

Q: What class of amplifier is this and does it matter?

A: Class D amplifiers are compact and efficient, ideal for subwoofers and modern installs. Class AB designs are traditionally favoured for outright sound quality on mid and high frequencies. The class is listed in the Specification tab where provided.

Q: Will an amplifier work with my factory head unit?

A: Yes, in most cases. If your head unit has no RCA outputs you will need a line output converter to feed the amplifier a clean signal. CEN stocks line output converters and can advise the right one for your vehicle.

Q: Can CEN install this amplifier?

A: Yes. CEN offers professional amplifier installation from our Nottingham premises, including secure mounting, wiring and setup. Contact us to book.

Q: What impedance can the JL Audio HD750/1 run at?

A: It delivers its full 750W RMS into any load between 1.5 and 4 ohms, at both 14.4V and 12.5V, so you can wire your subwoofers for the most convenient impedance in that range.

Q: Can the HD750/1 be used for anything other than subwoofers?

A: Yes. While it is aimed mainly at subwoofers, it is a wide-range amplifier and can also drive high-performance mid-range speaker systems.

Q: What wire and fuse does the HD750/1 need?

A: JL Audio specifies a minimum of 4 AWG copper power and ground wire and a 60A fuse (AFS, AGU or MaxiFuse).
