Monoblock Class D Subwoofer Amplifier, 1000W x 1 at 2 ohms / 600W x 1 at 4 ohms, 14.4V

Rated at 1000W into 2 ohms (14.4V, 1% THD), the JD1000/1 is built to power subwoofers in a cost-conscious system. JL Audio's proprietary NexD switching technology delivers high real-world power output with excellent efficiency and ultra-low distortion.

Controls are located on the input panel. Power and speaker connections are found at the opposite end of the extruded aluminium chassis.

Signal processing includes a 12dB/octave low-pass filter with continuously variable frequency selection from 50 to 500Hz, plus a variable bass boost EQ. Dual-range, differential-balanced inputs accept both line-level and speaker-level signals. Automatic turn-on (via signal sensing or DC-offset sensing) is standard, and preamp outputs allow easy signal pass-through to an additional amplifier such as the JL Audio JD400/4.

An onboard LED clipping indicator ring surrounds the input sensitivity control, allowing quick and accurate sensitivity setting without special equipment. Adding an RBC-1 remote level control (sold separately) lets you adjust subwoofer level from the driver's seat.

About the JL Audio JD1000/1

From our tech experts at CEN

A monoblock subwoofer amplifier from JL Audio’s JD Series, rated at 1000w RMS.

Who it suits

Anyone driving a subwoofer that needs real, controlled power rather than a compact powered unit. JD Series is the value end of the range and still does the important things properly.

Our tech experts advise

Matching the amplifier to the speakers matters more than headline watts, and the gains want setting with a meter rather than by ear. It also needs a fused feed from the battery on the correct cable gauge. Installation is priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year and we will confirm what it needs. Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I choose the right amplifier for my speakers or subwoofer?

A: Match the amplifier's RMS output per channel to the RMS handling of your speakers or subwoofer at the same impedance. The Specification tab lists the power figures. If in doubt, contact CEN with your setup and we will recommend a match.

Q: What wiring do I need to install this amplifier?

A: You will need an amplifier wiring kit sized to the amplifier's power draw, typically including power and earth cable, a fuse, RCA leads and a remote wire. CEN stocks complete wiring kits, and the amplifier's fuse rating is the guide to the cable gauge required.

Q: What class of amplifier is this and does it matter?

A: Class D amplifiers are compact and efficient, ideal for subwoofers and modern installs. Class AB designs are traditionally favoured for outright sound quality on mid and high frequencies. The class is listed in the Specification tab where provided.

Q: Will an amplifier work with my factory head unit?

A: Yes, in most cases. If your head unit has no RCA outputs you will need a line output converter to feed the amplifier a clean signal. CEN stocks line output converters and can advise the right one for your vehicle.

Q: Can CEN install this amplifier?

A: Yes. CEN offers professional amplifier installation from our Nottingham premises, including secure mounting, wiring and setup. Contact us to book.

Q: How many watts is the JL Audio JD1000/1?

A: At 14.4V it produces 1000W RMS into 2 ohms, 800W RMS into 3 ohms and 600W RMS into 4 ohms. At 12.5V the figures are 800W, 650W and 500W RMS respectively. It is not rated for loads below 2 ohms.

Q: Can the JD1000/1 connect to a factory stereo without RCA outputs?

A: Yes. Its differential-balanced inputs accept speaker-level signals as well as line-level, and automatic turn-on via signal sensing or DC-offset sensing is built in.

Q: Is there a remote bass control for the JD1000/1?

A: Yes. The optional JL Audio RBC-1 remote level control (sold separately) lets you adjust subwoofer level from the driver's seat.
