W3v3 8-inch Subwoofer Driver (250W, 4 ohm)
The 8W3v3-4 delivers 0.375 in (10 mm) of controlled one-way linear excursion from a very compact installation. It works best with amplifier power in the 75–250W range and is optimised for a 0.30 cu ft (8.5 litre) sealed enclosure or a 0.35 cu ft (9.9 litre) ported enclosure. Dynamic Motor Analysis — DMA Optimised Motor
JL Audio's Dynamic Motor Analysis (DMA) system uses FEA-based modelling, first developed in 1997, to address speaker motor linearity. The result is significantly reduced distortion and accurate transient reproduction — tight, clean, articulate bass.
Elevated Frame Cooling
JL Audio's patented Elevated Frame Cooling design channels cool air through slots directly above the top-plate to the voice coil. This improves power handling and sound quality by reducing dynamic parameter shifts and power compression.

This JL Audio assembly technique ensures correct surround geometry in the finished driver for better excursion control and dynamic voice coil alignment.
Vented Reinforcement Collar
The Vented Reinforcement Collar (VRC®) increases rigidity and stability at the cone/spider/voice coil junction while directing airflow over the voice coil windings for improved thermal performance.

Q: Do I need an amplifier for this subwoofer?
A: Yes, unless it is an active (powered) subwoofer with a built-in amplifier. Passive subwoofers need an external amplifier matched to the RMS power and impedance shown in the Specification tab.
