Audison Prima APK 163
3-way kit | 375W peak power | 4 ohm | AP 1 + AP 4 + AP 6.5 + grilles + crossover
Audison Prima is designed for enthusiasts who want to hear every detail of their music while integrating cleanly into an OEM system. The priority throughout the range is space-efficient OEM replacement.
The APK 163 pairs the AP 1 tweeter, AP 4 midbass and AP 6.5 woofer with a dedicated crossover for each driver. This approach simplifies OEM speaker replacement without routing extra cables through the door — avoiding any risk to the car warranty.
- AP 1 tweeter: 26mm diaphragm with wide-roll surround for high efficiency and reduced resonance frequency.
- AP 1 tweeter: acoustic lens compensates for in-car frequency response anomalies in the 10 kHz–13 kHz band caused by restrictive OEM grilles.
- APCX TW compact tweeter passive crossover with attenuation switch (0 dB, +2 dB) to tune in-car response; APCX MD midbass crossover and APCX WF woofer crossover — all optimised for OEM integration.
- AP 4 midbass: extended frequency response with high efficiency.
- AP 6.5 woofer: 32mm pure copper voice coil for high power handling and low-frequency control.
- AP 6.5 woofer and AP 4 midbass: water-repellent treated paper cone, profiled using FEM (Finite Element Method) simulation and optimised with the Klippel R&D Scan Vibrometer.
- AP 6.5 woofer and AP 4 midbass: reduced mounting depth for easier fitting in OEM locations.
- AP 6.5 woofer and AP 4 midbass: TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) edge with shallow "TripleWave" profile for maximum linearity of excursion.
- AP 6.5 woofer and AP 4 midbass: compact basket with abrasion-resistant, scratch-proof coating; motor fixed with damping epoxy adhesive.
- AP 6.5 woofer: high-current fast-on terminal with double contact on positive and negative poles; temperature-resistant plastic cover protects against accidental short circuits.
- Developed using the Klippel suite.

Our tech experts advise
Sizes, adapter rings and harnesses vary by vehicle, year and trim, so we confirm what your car takes before ordering. Door treatment matters as much as the speaker, and Audison drivers repay amplification and tuning. Installation and tuning are priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year and we will confirm what it needs. See car audio installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will these speakers fit my car?
A: Most car speakers are standard sizes, but mounting depth and fitting rings vary by vehicle. Check the size in the Specification tab against your vehicle, or contact CEN with your registration and we will confirm fitment and any adapters or fitting kits you need.
Q: Do I need an amplifier to run these speakers?
A: Not always. Most speakers will run from a standard head unit, but a dedicated amplifier lets them perform at their best, particularly for component sets and higher power handling models. The RMS figure in the Specification tab is the guide to how much clean power they can use.
Q: What is the difference between coaxial and component speakers?
A: Coaxial speakers combine the tweeter and woofer in one unit for a simple like-for-like upgrade. Component sets separate the tweeter and woofer with a crossover for better imaging and detail, and suit installs where sound quality is the priority.
Q: Do these come as a pair?
A: Unless stated otherwise, car speakers are sold in pairs. Check the product title and What's Included tab, which lists exactly what is in the box.
Q: Can CEN fit these speakers for me?
A: Yes. CEN offers professional installation from our Nottingham premises. Contact us to book an installation slot or ask for a fitting quote.
Q: Is the Audison Prima APK 163 a 2-way or 3-way system?
A: It is a 3-way system made up of the AP 1 26mm tweeter, AP 4 midbass and AP 6.5 165mm woofer, each with its own passive crossover.
Q: Do I need to run extra cables through the door to fit the APK 163?
A: No. Each speaker has its own dedicated crossover, which simplifies OEM speaker replacement and avoids routing additional cables through the door.
Q: What is the power handling of the APK 163?
A: 125W continuous and 375W peak at 4 ohms, with 93.5 dB sensitivity.
