The APBX 8 AS2 builds on Prima's passive box technologies, including the 2S² (2 Sides / 2 Sounds) design, the SSP Plug & Play terminal block and ultra-compact dimensions.

He-Li amplification

The 250 W RMS amplification module uses He-Li technology (high efficiency / low impedance). Without a DC-DC voltage booster it achieves 90% efficiency — close to the theoretical limit of Class D. The DBT (Dynamic Bass Tracking) input stage ensures 100% use of amplifier power for tight, dynamic bass at any volume.

Removing the voltage booster was made possible by new dual-coil drivers that inherit Prima subwoofer technology but operate at ultra-low impedance, creating a perfect synergy between amplifier, speaker and sealed box for low, powerful and crisp bass.

Controls and connections

The Butterworth low-pass filter at 12 dB/oct with variable cut-off frequency (50 to 300 Hz) can be bypassed when used with an AP bit processor featuring a dedicated sub pre-out. Adjustable bass boost (0 to 6 dB at 45 Hz) lets you emphasise the lowest part of the spectrum.

The high-level speaker-in input on the multi-pole connector eases integration with OEM audio systems; the low-level RCA input suits aftermarket sources. ART (Automatic Remote Turn-On) can respond to a remote signal, voltage changes on the high-level input, or the audio signal on either input. Phase control (0 to 180°) completes the adjustment options.

The SSP (Sub Smart Plug) terminal block uses a single Plug & Play connector so the box can be disconnected quickly and safely.
