The New 2022 R-Series Subwoofers
The 2nd-Gen R-Series subwoofers draw from decades of Alpine subwoofer engineering. They deliver deep, clean, accurate bass and feature Alpine's HAMR Surround for maximum cone excursion. A lightweight, rigid ceramic dust cap keeps distortion to a minimum, and the enlarged motor structure ensures tight, controlled bass response.
New Motor Structure
The 2nd-Gen R-Series now uses larger, double-stacked magnets for more motor force, delivering deeper bass and tighter cone control than the previous generation. An integrated Faraday ring minimises distortion, and a Kevlar-treated cone ensures reliable performance even at high volumes.
Next-Gen Sound Performance
Building on the legacy of the Type R platform, Alpine's R-Series has long been known for output and reliability. The 2nd-Gen R-Series raises the bar with even greater bass output. Pair the subwoofer with an optional Alpine RUX-KNOB2 remote bass level control for convenient level adjustment from compatible Alpine amplifiers.
Additional Reliability
A polypropylene/ceramic composite dust cap provides rigidity and internal damping to smooth out bass response and reproduce tight bass. The material also offers higher heat resistance, ensuring consistent performance during extended use.
Flexible Application
The dual voice coil (DVC) design includes easy configuration jumpers for flexible wiring options. A new "EZ-Change" twist-lock grille mounting system allows an optional grille to be fitted or removed without screws, giving extra cone protection with minimal effort.
Increased Accuracy
Alpine's High Amplitude Multi-Roll (HAMR) Surround allows the cone to move air efficiently while staying cool. It provides 20mm of total cone excursion for accurate, high-output bass reproduction.

Q: Do I need an amplifier for this subwoofer?
A: Yes, unless it is an active (powered) subwoofer with a built-in amplifier. Passive subwoofers need an external amplifier matched to the RMS power and impedance shown in the Specification tab.
Q: What size enclosure does this subwoofer need?
A: The recommended enclosure volume is listed in the Specification tab where the manufacturer provides it. As a rule, sealed enclosures give tighter, more accurate bass while ported enclosures deliver more output. Contact CEN if you would like a recommendation for your build.
Q: What does RMS power mean?
A: RMS is the continuous power a subwoofer can handle, and it is the number that matters when matching an amplifier. Peak or max figures describe short bursts only. Match your amplifier output to the RMS rating in the Specification tab.
Q: Sealed or ported enclosure - which should I choose?
A: Sealed boxes are compact and produce tight, controlled bass suited to sound quality builds. Ported boxes are larger and produce more output at low frequencies, suited to those who want maximum impact. Either works well when built to the recommended volume.
