About the RetroSound GP-M2B-296
From our tech experts at CEN
A classic-style car radio in the Grand Prix look, with modern electronics behind a period face — Bluetooth streaming and hands-free.
Who it suits
Classic and modern classic owners who want to stream music and take calls without a modern screen ruining the dash. These are the answer for cars where an aftermarket double-DIN would look completely wrong, and they usually fit the original aperture and shaft spacing.
Our tech experts advise
Shaft spacing, depth and face style vary between models and cars, and older vehicles often need a 6 to 12 volt converter or a rewire of the aerial and earth. Tell us the car and we will confirm which model suits — get in touch. See car stereo installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will this stereo fit my car?
A: Most vehicles need a fascia panel, wiring harness and sometimes a steering wheel control interface to fit a new stereo. Contact CEN with your make, model and year and we will confirm the exact installation kit needed, or browse our Connects 2 installation kits.
Q: Will I keep my steering wheel controls?
A: Yes, in almost all cases. A steering wheel control interface retains your existing buttons with the new stereo. Parts are sold separately.
Q: Does this stereo support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto?
A: Check the Specification tab, which lists smartphone connectivity for each model including whether CarPlay and Android Auto are wired or wireless on that unit.
Q: What is the difference between single DIN and double DIN?
A: DIN refers to the chassis size. Single DIN units are the traditional slim format, while double DIN units are twice the height and typically carry a touchscreen. Your vehicle's dash aperture and fascia kit determine which fits.
Q: Can CEN supply and fit the stereo?
A: Yes. CEN offers professional supply and installation from our Nottingham premises, including fascia, wiring and steering control integration. Contact us for a fitted price.
Q: Which cars is the RetroSound Grand Prix designed for?
A: The Grand Prix face is styled to suit the interiors of 1980s Mercedes, BMW and Porsche vehicles, with authentic paddle-style controls and low-profile push-buttons. A 296 DIN kit is included for a factory-like fit. Contact CEN with your vehicle details to confirm fitment.
Q: Does the Grand Prix Motor 2 have DAB radio?
A: No. The Motor 2B has an AM/FM RDS tuner with 30 presets. For DAB/DAB+ choose the Grand Prix with Motor 4.
Q: Can I add an amplifier or subwoofer?
A: Yes. The Motor 2B has dual RCA pre-outs for external amplifiers and a dedicated subwoofer output, plus a built-in 25W RMS x 4 amplifier.
