ZDBMW4CS 120W BMW Speaker Upgrade Kit

The Phoenix Gold ZDBMW4CS is a 2-way component speaker set designed specifically for BMW vehicles, offering a premium sound upgrade with easy plug-and-play installation. It aims to improve clarity, control, and sound balance by addressing factory system limitations.

Engineered for Clarity and Control
The 4” midrange driver features an aluminium cone, chosen for its ability to deliver tight, punchy midbass and clear midrange tone reproduction – perfectly suited to bring vocals and instruments to life with accuracy and fun energy.

The 1” tweeter uses a silk dome to produce soft, smooth high frequencies, offering a refined, natural top end that enhances detail without harshness.

A dedicated 2-way crossover ensures each driver performs at its best, maintaining tonal balance and seamless integration between the midrange, tweeter and vehicle.

Smart Bass Blocker Function
In BMWs with the factory Basic Sound System, the underseat woofers and door speakers share the same signal. This means the small 4″ door speakers are forced to play deep bass tones they weren’t made for — often causing distortion and muddy sound.

The ZDBMW4CS includes an integrated Bass Blocker loop that filters out those low frequencies below 120Hz (-12dB/Oct). By doing this, it stops unwanted bass from reaching the midrange speakers, allowing them to play louder, clearer, and more accurately. The bass is then handled properly by the underseat woofers, giving you a balanced, distortion-free sound.

Precision Engineering Meets Plug & Play Simplicity
The ZDBMW4CS features a dual aluminium mounting bracket system, built for maximum rigidity and zero unwanted vibrations. Its innovative design ensures a perfect fit across multiple BMW configurations, regardless of which of the two OEM brackets your vehicle uses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need an amplifier for this subwoofer?

A: Yes, unless it is an active (powered) subwoofer with a built-in amplifier. Passive subwoofers need an external amplifier matched to the RMS power and impedance shown in the Specification tab.

Q: What size enclosure does this subwoofer need?

A: The recommended enclosure volume is listed in the Specification tab where the manufacturer provides it. As a rule, sealed enclosures give tighter, more accurate bass while ported enclosures deliver more output. Contact CEN if you would like a recommendation for your build.

Q: What does RMS power mean?

A: RMS is the continuous power a subwoofer can handle, and it is the number that matters when matching an amplifier. Peak or max figures describe short bursts only. Match your amplifier output to the RMS rating in the Specification tab.

Q: Sealed or ported enclosure - which should I choose?

A: Sealed boxes are compact and produce tight, controlled bass suited to sound quality builds. Ported boxes are larger and produce more output at low frequencies, suited to those who want maximum impact. Either works well when built to the recommended volume.

Q: Can CEN build or supply an enclosure and fit everything?

A: Yes. CEN supplies enclosures and offers professional installation from our Nottingham premises, including amplifier wiring. Contact us to discuss your build.
