The whole package
The 165 AS component system includes two 6-1/2in woofers, two TN43 tweeters and two external crossovers. The DFS (dual fibreglass structure) woofer cone delivers precise mid-bass and midrange with articulated bass. A butyl rubber surround adds all-weather durability, resisting distortion and warping in hot or humid conditions.
Inverted dome tweeters
The TN43 aluminium inverted dome disperses high frequencies more widely than a traditional raised dome, producing a broad soundstage with fine resolution. Flush-mount hardware is included so you can position the tweeters exactly where they work best for stereo imaging.
Custom crossover
The external crossovers manage frequency distribution between woofer and tweeter for a natural, seamless sound. The 3-position tweeter level adjustment lets you fine-tune the high-frequency output to suit your system and listening preference.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will these speakers fit my car?
A: Most car speakers are standard sizes, but mounting depth and fitting rings vary by vehicle. Check the size in the Specification tab against your vehicle, or contact CEN with your registration and we will confirm fitment and any adapters or fitting kits you need.
Q: Do I need an amplifier to run these speakers?
A: Not always. Most speakers will run from a standard head unit, but a dedicated amplifier lets them perform at their best, particularly for component sets and higher power handling models. The RMS figure in the Specification tab is the guide to how much clean power they can use.
Q: What is the difference between coaxial and component speakers?
A: Coaxial speakers combine the tweeter and woofer in one unit for a simple like-for-like upgrade. Component sets separate the tweeter and woofer with a crossover for better imaging and detail, and suit installs where sound quality is the priority.
Q: Do these come as a pair?
A: Unless stated otherwise, car speakers are sold in pairs. Check the product title and What's Included tab, which lists exactly what is in the box.
Q: Can CEN fit these speakers for me?
A: Yes. CEN offers professional installation from our Nottingham premises. Contact us to book an installation slot or ask for a fitting quote.
Q: Are the Focal 165AS sold as a pair?
A: Yes. The 165AS system includes two 6.5-inch woofers, two TN43 inverted dome tweeters and two external crossovers, along with grilles and mounting hardware.
Q: What mounting depth do the Focal 165AS woofers need?
A: The woofers need a top-mount depth of 2-9/16 inches and a cutout diameter of 5-9/16 inches, with a mounting height of 0.38 inches.
Q: Can the Focal 165AS tweeters be mounted in different positions?
A: Yes. The tweeters come with flush-mount cups installed, and two angled surface-mount tweeter cups are also included so you can place them where they give the best stereo imaging.
