Audison Prima APBX 10 AS2 Active Sub Box
The Audison Prima range was designed for car enthusiasts who want accurate, nuanced bass that integrates cleanly with OEM systems without sacrificing boot space. The APBX 10 AS2 brings a dedicated high-performance amplification module to the passive Prima box platform, combining the 2S² design, SSP Plug & Play terminal block and an ultra-compact sealed enclosure in a single unit.
Features
- Integrated 400 W RMS Class D amplifier using He-Li (High-Efficiency / Low Impedance) technology — no switching power supply, achieving up to 90% efficiency.
- DBT (Dynamic Bass Tracking) input stage enables full use of the He-Li amplifier's power output, maintaining tight, dynamic bass at high listening volumes.
- Butterworth low-pass filter at 12 dB/Oct with variable cut frequency (50–300 Hz), phase control (0–180°), and adjustable bass boost 0–6 dB @ 45 Hz.
- Defeatable filter for use with a dedicated sub output from a bit or AP bit processor.
- High-level audio input on multi-pin connector for OEM integration; low-level RCA input for aftermarket head units.
- ART (Automatic Remote Turn-On) selectable between Remote-in, Hi-level, and Audio signal detection.
- Ultra-low profile enclosure — 158 mm (6.22 in.) deep — in air suspension, optimised for the APS 10 DL driver.
- SSP (Sub Smart Plug) terminal block with Plug & Play connector for safe, easy removal and refitting.
- 2S² (2 Sides / 2 Sounds) design: down-firing increases low-frequency extension; up-firing delivers more punch and definition.
- Down-firing levelling feet with Velcro inserts for secure carpet grip and easy removal.
- Rounded corners aid boot placement and reduce enclosure resonances.
- Cone, dust-cap and basket geometry engineered for a wide linear excursion of 9 mm (one direction) at minimal mounting depth.
- HRC AP remote control included.
- Sturdy metal grille included for full driver protection.
He-Li Amplification Module
The 400 W RMS amplification module uses He-Li (High-Efficiency / Low Impedance) technology. By eliminating the DC-DC voltage booster, it reaches approximately 90% efficiency — close to the theoretical limit of Class D design. The DBT (Dynamic Bass Tracking) input stage ensures the amplifier operates at full capacity, delivering controlled, dynamic bass even at high volume levels.

About the Audison APBX 10 AS2
From our tech experts at CEN
An Audison active subwoofer enclosure, 10 inch, with the amplifier built into a compact box.
Who it suits
Drivers who want proper bass without finding space for a separate sub, amplifier and enclosure. Compact active units suit cars and vans where space is the binding constraint.
Our tech experts advise
It still needs a fused feed from the battery and a signal source, and level and crossover want setting against your front speakers. Installation and tuning are priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year and we will confirm what it needs. See car audio installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need an amplifier for this subwoofer?
A: Yes, unless it is an active (powered) subwoofer with a built-in amplifier. Passive subwoofers need an external amplifier matched to the RMS power and impedance shown in the Specification tab.
Q: What size enclosure does this subwoofer need?
A: The recommended enclosure volume is listed in the Specification tab where the manufacturer provides it. As a rule, sealed enclosures give tighter, more accurate bass while ported enclosures deliver more output. Contact CEN if you would like a recommendation for your build.
Q: What does RMS power mean?
A: RMS is the continuous power a subwoofer can handle, and it is the number that matters when matching an amplifier. Peak or max figures describe short bursts only. Match your amplifier output to the RMS rating in the Specification tab.
Q: Sealed or ported enclosure - which should I choose?
A: Sealed boxes are compact and produce tight, controlled bass suited to sound quality builds. Ported boxes are larger and produce more output at low frequencies, suited to those who want maximum impact. Either works well when built to the recommended volume.
Q: Can CEN build or supply an enclosure and fit everything?
A: Yes. CEN supplies enclosures and offers professional installation from our Nottingham premises, including amplifier wiring. Contact us to discuss your build.
Q: Does the Audison APBX 10 AS2 have a built-in amplifier?
A: Yes. It is an active subwoofer with an integrated 400 W RMS Class D amplifier using Audison He-Li technology, so no separate subwoofer amplifier is needed.
Q: Can the APBX 10 AS2 connect to a factory stereo?
A: Yes. It has a high-level audio input on a multi-pin connector for OEM integration and a low-level RCA input for aftermarket sources. The ART automatic turn-on can be triggered by Remote-in, Hi-level or Audio signal.
Q: Can the APBX 10 AS2 be mounted firing up or down?
A: Yes. The 2S² (2 Sides / 2 Sounds) design lets you choose down-firing for more low-frequency extension or up-firing for more punch and definition. Levelling feet with Velcro inserts are included for down-firing use.
