The New 2022 R-Series Subwoofers
The 2nd-Gen R-Series subwoofers draw on decades of Alpine subwoofer engineering. They deliver deep, clean, accurate bass using Alpine's HAMR surround for maximum cone excursion. A lightweight ceramic dust cap minimises distortion, while an enlarged motor structure ensures tight, controlled bass response.
New Motor Structure
Larger, double-stacked magnets provide more motor force for deeper, tighter bass compared to the previous generation. An integrated Faraday ring minimises distortion, and a Kevlar-treated cone ensures durability at high volumes.
Next-Gen Sound Performance
Building on the legacy of the Type R platform, the 2nd-Gen R-Series subwoofers deliver more bass output than ever. Alpine's R-Series has long been associated with consistent output and reliable performance — this generation takes both further.
Additional Reliability
A polypropylene/ceramic composite dust cap provides rigidity and internal damping to smooth bass response. The material also offers higher heat tolerance for non-stop performance at sustained output levels.
Flexible Application
The dual voice coil (DVC) design includes easy configuration jumpers for flexible wiring options. An "EZ-Change" twist-lock grille mounting system allows an optional grille to be fitted or removed without mounting screws. Pair with a compatible amplifier and use the Alpine RUX-KNOB2 remote bass level control for convenient in-cabin adjustment.
Increased Accuracy
Alpine's High Amplitude Multi-Roll (HAMR) surround technology allows the cone to move air efficiently while remaining cool. It provides 20mm of total cone excursion for precise, high-output bass reproduction.

Q: Do I need an amplifier for this subwoofer?
A: Yes, unless it is an active (powered) subwoofer with a built-in amplifier. Passive subwoofers need an external amplifier matched to the RMS power and impedance shown in the Specification tab.
Q: What size enclosure does this subwoofer need?
A: The recommended enclosure volume is listed in the Specification tab where the manufacturer provides it. As a rule, sealed enclosures give tighter, more accurate bass while ported enclosures deliver more output. Contact CEN if you would like a recommendation for your build.
