The authentic Hertz Sound Experience for the young enthusiasts
The CS 300 S4 is designed to deliver strong bass from compact sealed enclosures. Hertz's engineering team optimised the electroacoustic parameters to achieve high performance in enclosures from just 32 litres for the 30 cm (12 in.) driver.
The 4 ohm single voice coil configuration offers wide compatibility with most amplifiers and suits enclosures housing more than one subwoofer.
The compact magnetic group, reduced depth, and absence of a rear decompression hole allow the enclosure to be built tightly around the driver — useful in tight or custom installations.
A six-layer voice coil cooling system keeps operating temperature within an optimal range during extended high-volume listening sessions.
- Electroacoustic design optimised for enclosures from 32 litres.
- Fluid dynamic optimisation system that drastically reduces acoustic distortion caused by air compression at high excursions.
- Polypropylene cone and dust cap geometry engineered through FEM simulations for low-frequency distortion reduction.
- 35 mm 4 ohm voice coil wound on six layers of pure copper on a high thermal resistance glass fibre support.
- Magnetic group geometry optimised with proprietary software for high undistorted SPL at high excursions.
- Compact size and no decompression hole make it ideal for custom enclosures shaped closely around the driver.
- Terminal block with solid push contacts accepting cables up to 8 AWG — low wiring resistance and easy connection in multi-subwoofer installations.
- Rubber-protected magnetic assembly and high-strength ABS plastic gasket for fitting the optional CG 300 grille.
An innovative fluid dynamic optimisation system — using the spider support as an air duct towards venting holes in the basket — reduces acoustic distortion from air compression at high excursions.
The cone geometry, suspension, and spider were developed using FEM (Finite Element Method) simulations to maintain control and low distortion at high mechanical excursions.
The terminal block uses solid push connectors accepting cables up to 8 AWG for low wiring resistance and straightforward connection, even in multi-subwoofer setups.
An ABS plastic gasket is included to mount the optional CG 300 grille — a robust black metal mesh cover with a Hertz diamond aluminium logo — for a clean finished look.

About the Hertz CS 300 S4
From our tech experts at CEN
A Cento series 12 inch subwoofer, 4 ohm, handling 350w RMS.
Who it suits
Drivers building a system where the bass does real work rather than filling in behind the speakers.
Our tech experts advise
A subwoofer is only as good as its enclosure and the amplifier driving it: box volume and port tuning decide what you actually hear, and impedance decides how it should be wired to your amplifier. We build enclosures to suit the vehicle at our Beeston workshop. Installation is priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year and we will confirm what it needs. Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need an amplifier for this subwoofer?
A: Yes, unless it is an active (powered) subwoofer with a built-in amplifier. Passive subwoofers need an external amplifier matched to the RMS power and impedance shown in the Specification tab.
Q: What size enclosure does this subwoofer need?
A: The recommended enclosure volume is listed in the Specification tab where the manufacturer provides it. As a rule, sealed enclosures give tighter, more accurate bass while ported enclosures deliver more output. Contact CEN if you would like a recommendation for your build.
Q: What does RMS power mean?
A: RMS is the continuous power a subwoofer can handle, and it is the number that matters when matching an amplifier. Peak or max figures describe short bursts only. Match your amplifier output to the RMS rating in the Specification tab.
Q: Sealed or ported enclosure - which should I choose?
A: Sealed boxes are compact and produce tight, controlled bass suited to sound quality builds. Ported boxes are larger and produce more output at low frequencies, suited to those who want maximum impact. Either works well when built to the recommended volume.
Q: Can CEN build or supply an enclosure and fit everything?
A: Yes. CEN supplies enclosures and offers professional installation from our Nottingham premises, including amplifier wiring. Contact us to discuss your build.
Q: Is the Hertz Cento CS 300 S4 a 2 ohm or 4 ohm subwoofer?
A: The CS 300 S4 has a single 4 ohm voice coil. A 2 ohm version with the same 12 inch size and 350W RMS rating is available as the CS 300 S2.
Q: What size box does the CS 300 S4 need?
A: Hertz designed the CS 300 for compact sealed enclosures starting from 32 litres. Its reduced depth and lack of a rear vent hole also allow a box shaped closely around the subwoofer.
Q: Is a grille included with the CS 300 S4?
A: No. The CG 300 black metal mesh grille is an optional extra. The subwoofer has an ABS plastic gasket that the grille fixes to.
